I am literally all over the place with what I play (see my sig). However when it comes to straight up edm type mixing I think I like techno/tech house the best with house being a close second.

Have you updated to 2.0.2? I had some peaking issues at times and 2.0.2 fixed those.

Very proud father of a 16 year old son and 12 year old daughter. Both my kids are very into music, mostly on the listening side though. I’ve been trying hard to get my son to make some mix tapes (CD’s) for his friends, but he’s worried his musical tastes are so far out there that none of them will like it. He’s real into punk, but his musical tastes are as varied and eclectic as mine. He found a frank Sinatra greatest hits album on sale on iTunes and begged to buy it, he was excited when I came home with a Billy Paul record from the thrift store, and he recently posted on facebook that he got a Hank Williams album so he wasn’t going to be at the skate park for a few days.

My daughter is going into the 7th grade next year and was the only 6th grade percussionist to be put in with the 8th grade tier one band. However, I recently discovered she’s been listening to electro pop so I’m torn an what to do there. My gut tells me to ground her, but she was singing Loretta Lynn songs in the car yesterday so all is not lost I think. Plus she’s a huge Beatles fan so she has that going for her. She’s the only one that’s expressed any interest in Dj’ing.

With proper planning I can do a couple of hours with 500mb of 320k files and have enough left over for an encore set. Not that I get very many (any) requests for encore sets. 😎

Phil’s right in that you can’t really use smart playlists as effectively with wav’s in iTunes. As far as importing them goes you can check that your import preferences in iTunes is set to wav encoder, but if you ever import an mp3 it will be encoded to wav while not making it any better quality. i don’t think it’ll hurt the file any, but if say for instance it’s a 128k mp3 it will still be the same 128k quality even though it says wav.

If the wave form has been reduced by mp3 gain then the zoom isn’t going to help.

If it was a decent quality file and was a full size wave form to start with I’m not sure why it would have been made smaller. I don’t know anything about mp3 gain though so I can’t offer really offer any help.

BTW ZZsounds.com is my new best friend. Just being able to pickup the gear I need and to pay for it in 4 installments is the best situation for me. I can’t afford to drop 400$ on a piece of gear but I can easily swing 100$ a month for 4 months. If your DJing on a budget like I am check them out I couldn’t recommend them enough.

Check American Musical as well. Purchases over $1000 can get you 5 payments.

I’m thinking another X1, but I’m patiently waiting a few months.
