A few weeks ago I watched this kid in a bar with loads of kit, digital vinyl, all sorts. When he started he played some nice reggae tunes, so far so good. Then Cypress Hill, can’t remember which. Nice! I thought, haven’t heard CH in ages, bit like visiting an old friend.
Then he played.. another CH track. Then another. And so on.
I was joking after the first couple that he had run out of records, but I swear he played EVERY track off Black Monday – at least 8 or so – IN A ROW. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. He pretty much did a few lame scratch licks and cut over on the fade each time too.
I’m pretty sure after the CypressHill-athon he played a couple of different artists and then played a couple of the best known CH tracks for a second time.
It was early, and quiet, but no excuse for that. DJ Crime.
