MemberCongratulations Terry. I’m new to this forum but from my past experience with other forums, it’s made or broken by the quality and vibe of the moderators. Reckon we are in good hands here. :-]

MemberThanks for the reply Terry.
Yeah, the 380 really is at the top of the list – except for price. Although the Gear Junkie inside me is screaming in my ear “Go on, buy it – you deserver it!”. And even though it’s over specced for how I play – those pads look like terrific fun and I suspect I’d learn a lot by banging around with them for a while.
Done a bit of research on the Reloop controllers – I’ll have to check the Jockey 3 again. Also, djay comes with a pretty good Midi Learn function and from what I’ve been reading I think you could do a pretty good job of mapping most features.
Hey, one question Terry – I see that the Twitch has a line input – do you know if that would solve my problem?
Cheers.

Man I feel for you. That could not have gone any worse!
Good lord – the only good things out of this is that you have a great First Gig story which you will look back on and laugh about, and from here on in all your gigs are going to way better!
You need to go post this story in Phil’s Friday 13th Thread on his Blog.Bunyip
MemberNice one Proto – glad the move back to spinning was so easy. I’ve just done it myself and am new to the digital world of DJing. There are some great tips there – Playlists was the big one for me. I am used to flicking through album covers to search my music, so a long library list of track names was really tough for me to get my head around. Lots of playlists sorted into a big variety of genres, such as Hip Swingers (down), Hip Swingers (up), Winners, etc really helped.
Also +1 on the requests. We are nothing without our audience. I will express regret that I “didn’t bring” the shit track they are asking for. I love it when people come and ask me what that last song was.
Nice work fella!

I’ve gone through and added you all twice. Thanks to those who have returned the favour!
Good point about the double up.

MemberPffft. If you’re playing music in public and you don’t have a set list, and are choosing music on the fly, you’re DJing. Doesn’t matter if you’re using a computer, vinyl, or banging two rocks together.
