If anybody happens to stumble upon a shop that might have a new one in the 120-150 range (including shipping), and you’d like to keep me in the loop via reply/PM, I’d appreciate it.
If you can deal with a used one, you should be able to find a decent Mixtrack on Ebay for $100-$130. When i was on the market for one, i saw quite a few go for under $130, sometimes with the Numark DJ I/O (which you could just sell if you already have one). So it might be worth considering, if you’re aren’t already.
For example:

ParticipantYou can get away with using Sony-MDR-V150 headphones. They’ll get you through some serious practice at home and even a low volume house party if that’s all you can afford.
Samson CH-70 headphones sound pretty good (more expensive than the Sony) for at home use. They’re studio reference headphones, so they sound a little better. I once had to use them at a club gig when my other headphones shorted out in one ear. Thankfully, the booth monitor had crystal clear sound, so i didn’t have to pump the volume too loud and make myself def trying to mix! LOL. They aren’t very comfortable though.
Have fun!

Participanti’ve done a few weddings and would like to do more. i appreciate the challenge of both having to provide the perfect soundtrack for the bride and groom’s special night, trying to play for a cross-generational crowd, and setting different moods to suit the each moment in the night (dinner, parents’ dances, garter toss, etc.). watching to bride and groom have the time of their lives is very fulfilling!!! but, i’m still learning how to do weddings properly… i only have done a few. i see them as training ground for me to grow as a well-rounded dj!

thanks for the feedback, fam. what do you mean by get technical on some of the blends?

Welcome to the site.
Where in Philly do you play? I’m in NJ and venture out to Philly often…
Peace Vinny,
I spin every 1st Thursday at Elena’s Soul in West Philly and whatever else comes up. I’m new to the city, so i’m not doing much yet. Do you play in Philly a lot? If so, please keep me posted on your gigs.

Participant7/10: i got my first controller, a VCI-300 MKII, about two months ago. I got it because i was researching DJ controllers for several months and former turntable DJs on a budget recommended it over the Numark Mixtrack Pro. Plus, i wanted something compatible with Itch. I like the controller, and won’t be trading it in (until i can afford the Numark NS-7!). I think if i were new to DJing the experience would have been more exciting (i still remember how it felt to use my first set of turntables!). It was cool, but didn’t keep me up all night like when i first got Serato or when i got my Rane mixer.
