The mixtrack pro 2 is a fantastic controller to begin with! It has some fantastic features and a wallet busting price to boot!

You will have a ball! Perfect time to get to play for a crowd, without there really being many consequences if you make a bad mix or slip up at any point as to be honest, the crowds ears probably won’t be that well trained if all they want to hear is top 40!

It will also give you confidence going forward as well and in my opinion the positives definitely outweigh the negatives!

What you need to do is go to a Radio Shack and pick up a jack like this:

Simple and basic. It’s a 1/8″ FEMALE to RCA. Make sure you remember the “female” part since I’m assuming your speakers have a cable with male plug.

Thought as much… that will work.

Yes I am doing it for enjoyment at the moment, will upgrade at a later date when money comes available but for now I am just going to get used to the basics using this!!

    Thanks mate.

That’s how you can create photos like the one in your dp 😉 Definitely adds cool factor.

I was thinking this as I was reading it… I think the fact that traktor gets bundled with a lot of controllers these days including the ever popular s2/s4 being prime examples of entry level equipment, means that you are going to find more noobies using traktor as a starting point.

As mentioned above though I also agree with the fact that a simple interview or quick listen to a mixtape by an artist using traktor would filter the good from bad, and think that banning it all together will mean that some talent is missed!

If you are truely great at marketing and not only creating a short lived hype, you need to listen to what people want and put design and ease of use first, as well as other things like longevity.

Also people only factor in HW costs and then think the rest is earnings of a company. Now I am not in denial that Apple doesnt make a fortune out of things, but there are additional costs others do not have: OS development, chipset development, industrial processing, the aluminium unibody design, custom SSD chips… that those internet comparisons do not factor in. But as I said by all means they are still making a lot of money and they should.

The downside in the PC department is, that through down wrestling competition, the market has been destroyed by getting cheaper all the time and because PC brands (except a few like Alienware) are only distinct by price and who makes the cheapest … which is sad, as quality goes out the window.

I have definitely noticed this in the past few years, the quality of windows based PC’s has decreased significantly and, whilst people want good quality products, the state of the economy has meant that some consumers can only base their decision on price – not quality.

I didn’t know until the other day that Apple’s motherboards are made by Asus, not in house which kind of makes sense financially as they are the leaders in this area due to the high amounts of research carried out.

Although I would love a Mac, being a student puts it out of the question at current simply due to the high price, although when the funds become available this will be the first thing I purchase.

I think you have a point regarding being “locked by traktor”, I personally believe it is the best unit out there for use with traktor, having never used the VCI 400, I can’t comment on its quality but having seen the video it has some pretty cool features.

Being a noob to all this, I’m still in the market for my first controller so will take your advice on the S4 into consideration! Cheers Terry! (y)
