MemberYeah I think I might just go for the Mixdeck Quad cos it’s a better controller than the mixtrack pro plus it uses CDs too… win win… and I’ve been reading some reviews, none have been negative so far.
I’ll move up to decent CDJs when I have the money/if they’re still worth it… you’re right they are kinda dying out aren’t they?
thanks again guys

MemberWow, really? It’s sounding like I should just get those then. What mixer would you recommend with that?
BlaccFriday
MemberWould it be a good idea to buy both a controller and a CDJ? I really want to keep using all the hotcues and effects in traktor… Are there any decent CDJs that combine those functionalities?
How good is the mixdeck quad? Is it worth having a sort of collection of controllers? I mean, I also really want a traktor s4 for a gig that’d be less roomy.

MemberNo, your advice is still really helpful in terms of knowing what the other controllers do should I want to upgrade/buy more in future! Thanks 🙂

If I were you I would have waited a few more days to preview vdj8 before making a decision… Traktor is definately a faster out of box solution than vdj, but vdj has many more possibilities.
When I learn more about Traktor Pro I’ll take you up on that. 😀

Really? :S Well I got Traktor Pro last night anyway, I guess I just really wanted that professional feel. Traktor Pro definitely does have more features though, and the recording is a big one for me.
@DJ Hessler – I wasn’t talking about VDJ Home, I know that’s free. With VDJ Home you can’t use a controller, like I said in my first post… so to use it with that I’d need to upgrade to VDJ Pro, which does cost money.

MemberBut I want to record, so that’s sounding a lot like Traktor LE, which I have at the moment.
Alright, well thanks for your advice. Imma go with FileSpnr on this one because I really want the effects.

MemberI got a Mixtrack Pro! Thanks for your advice guys

MemberOh nice! I didn’t know that.
And if I use Serato… how’ll I record? Are the any ways around it? I know about Soundflower but I’ve never tried it myself.

MemberI already have a Macbook Pro, so I won’t be buying that. It’s old but it’ll do for another year at least.
But yeah, I’ll go with you guys and just buy a Mixtrack Pro, thanks 🙂
I know the Mixtrack Pro comes with Virtual DJ LE, but the proper professional progams to practise for are Serato and Traktor aren’t they? Should I just go ahead and buy the Mixtrack, keep going with VDJ and buy Traktor later or what?
Also, when I do get it, I’d want to record weekly mixes for mixcloud or something, and I’ve had past issues recording “stereo mix” on a mac (i. e. you can’t record audio that’s playing within the computer) which have really annoyed me. Is there a way around this with the mixtrack Pro?

MemberRight, thanks for the help guys! You’ve helped me make my mind up. For now, I’m gonna get the coming exams out the way, then I’ll just get a Mixtrack Pro. What software should I get though? Traktor Duo? Pro? Serato? (money is a factor again haha)
