As well download LatencyMon…and have it running in the background to determine where you are getting the buffer under-runs.

It may be just a matter of downloading the latest drivers for a certain thing

My latency is between 15 (ASIO) and 20(laptop speakers). I need to do some more work I guess. Let me download LatencyMon.

I have a very basic low-budget Windows laptop that I use for DJ’ing. I also have the Numark Mixtrack Pro and I use Traktor Pro 2.6

I don’t have any problems with this laptop clipping. Have you disabled the network adapter and your virus program? Even with these running, Istill don’t get close to clipping. I eliminate all bloatware.

Here are specs for my very basic laptop:

2.1 Ghz Intel Dual Core with 4 MB of memory running Windows 7.

Has Traktor been approved for Windows 8?

Hmmm! Great video. Thanks for the reply.

After watching the video, I think I’m going to give it a shot sending a Mono signal to both speakers.

In case someone else is looking for the solution to the problem I posted, there is no solution. I contacted Numark’s Tech Support and they informed me that the Mixtrack Pro has a 4 track mixer. Therefore, if you use two tracks for Headphone Cueing and 2 tracks for Master Output in Traktor Pro, you are short when it comes to using the 2ND set of Output Jacks on the back of the controller.

I could have sworn Virtual DJ allowed me to do this. Perhaps I’m wrong.

Thanks Guys. I’m going to use the Master Output Sound from the speakers. I will walk around to the front of the speakers every now and then and listen out for necessary EQ Adjustments

Large venues and clubs will usually have monitors in the booth for your sound. I have never had a problem with delay, even in the days of turntables.

Cool. I’ve just become somewhat concerned because I’m playing in a small corner at the bar I’m playing and the speakers are faced away from me. However, I do still hear them pretty well and I used them that way with no monitor. I like to make EQ adjustments while playing and I’m not sure if I’m hearing the full effect correctly by listening to speakers that are pointed away from me.

I’m probably being a tad bit overly critical about this. I’m sure it sounds good to the audience.

    Thanks for the reply, Terry.

    Any advices?

I have the Behringers that you mentiioned. I dont really have anything to compare them to since I’m kinda new in the game as well. They do work for me. They are primarily plastic. So, they may not be the most durable. As for sound. I’m just using them for cueing. Perhaps I need to hear the professional phones in order to give a better opinion.

what I do is google flyers online and take the best parts that I like and try to figure out how they did it and then implement into my designs.

+1 for Gimp! I use Gimp and online tutorials to do all of my work. Attached is a flyer I designed for my upcoming show next week. Its not the best compared to flyers I’ve seen but it works for me.

Not that its of any help to you but I just ordered a pair of tripod speaker stands from them via eBay. They actually sell their products on eBay. It looks like they are based out of Memphis, Tenn.

Don’t want to spend much. I’m thinking less than $100 US if possible.

I may just use an old Radio Shack Realistic Amplified PA Speaker I have in storage. It should get me by until I find something suitable. When I performed live in the past, I just listened to the speakers the audience hear. I guess I could also use the cue and turn it to MIX as well. However, I really want to hear the sound going out live.

I’m pretty good with the counting in my head now. I was able to visualize the phrases a lot better in VirtualDJ. I can pretty much look at the waveforms and tell where the chorus is probably located or a verse is located and the intro/outros. I also used a skin in Virtual DJ that counted 4 beats using 4 lights. It would count at the tempo of the song. So, I usually tried to keep the counting in my head synced with the 4 beat counter on the screen. One thing I’ve noticed is that different tunes have different patterns. Dont think that all verses or choruses will be the same number of bars.

I’m still a newbie with all of this. So, if I sound confusing, that may be why. I’m sure some of the vets will jump in soon.

I’m thankful for the setting in my software that prevents me from loading a track to deck that is already playing a tune. I also like the option that will only load a track to a deck not playing.

My biggest mistake so far has been touching the jog wheel of a track that is playing. They can be pretty sensitive when it is set to SCRATCH. I played that one off pretty well. It wasn’t that noticeable.

I’m in the process of converting from VirtualDJ to Traktor Pro. I would love to see the replies to this one. I was pretty good at this with VirtualDJ. However, the Waveforms and Stripes are somewhat different in Traktor Pro 2.
