ParticipantI scooped up a pair of these on Ebay…
Rockville RVSM1 Pair of Near-Field Studio Monitor Stands
Just do a search for them. I think they were about $50-$60 for the pair

ParticipantThe night was a success. This has turned into a weekly gig for me. I like gigs where I just show up with my controller and laptop and just plug-up and turn-up. My other weekly required me to lug my speakers and stands, etc.
Thanks again!

ParticipantDisregard that last post.

ParticipantThanks, VINTAGE!
Yes, they have 2 CDJ plugged up already. I have a very good RCA Cable that I plane to use. I will be sure to run a 0dB test beforehand.
Yes, they have two large booth monitors in there. I will play with those beforehand as well.
Thanks for everything!

ParticipantChuck, Plan to run the Video and Audio out to a Screen/Projector using HDMI. I will also run the Audio to my Yamaha Mixer which is where I will run Mics as well.
<span style=”line-height: 1.5em;”>As long as I can run Audio to the Mixer using the Headphone OUT on the Laptop, I should be golden. The video will go to the screen using HDMI.</span>
That’s the plan anyway.

ParticipantI have an extra Traktor Pro license that I may be willing to sell. I purchased Traktor Pro as standalone software first. I later bought a Kontrol S4 which included a license also. If interested, I will sell the other one. just hit me up.
I apologize if this post is outside the posting rules of Digital DJ Tips.

ParticipantI’m hoping I can use my Yamaha MG 102C Mixer and run directly from the laptop to the mixer and a monitor.
I’m currently looking at Karma and KaraFun as software solutions.

ParticipantAfter doing some research, I’ve discovered a way to offer Karaoke using a laptop, a monitor, some CD+G DVDs and my existing Sound System (Speakers, Mics, etc.). I hope to run some tests very soon once I have the setup in place.

ParticipantSo, if I’m using the mixer, I can turn off the EQ on the Mackie Thump Speakers and do room EQ from the mixer eq’s.
If I’m going straight from the Controller to Speakers, use the Speaker EQs.
Both scenarios, I can pretty much find a good setting and leave it at that.
I’ve already got the hang of using the less is more theory/method of room EQing. It actually sounds pretty good.
Thanks again, Everyone, for all of the help and replies

ParticipantGreat Advice. All of which leads me to another question…
I’m more of a mobile DJ, playing bars, lounges, house parties, etc. Sometimes, I run my Controllet directly to the active speakers and sometimes I use my Yamaha Mixer in between. Would you say its best to EQ on the controller, and/or the mixer, and/or the speakers?
Of course, I want a good sound leaving my controller (Kontrol S4). I like to be able to set me speakers during the gig and pretty much leave them alone (unless adjustments are needed).
I usually will turn off the EQ on the Speakers and bypass the settings on the speaker. I then, Make sound adjustments on my controller and/or mixer if I’m using it.
Am I on the right path?

ParticipantI got the ADATA Drive which is USB 3.0
I like it so far.
Being a Mobile DJ, I’m sure it wont hurt to have the shock and water protection. Stuff is always getting banged around.
Thanks for all of your help!

ParticipantI just got the KRK Rokit 5 G3 monitors on Black Friday.
They sound great to me.
If anyone has the KRK speakers, when you first turn them on, do you notice about a 4-5 second delay before the sound becomes audible. I’m trying to determine if this is a defect or the the way they are suppose to function. Once they do start, everything seems normal.

ParticipantI ordered one over the weekend. I couldnt resist.

ParticipantI know in the WINDOWS version of Traktor Pro, you can scroll down to the Explorer folder and from there, you can drill down to any drive on the computer and select files. For instance, you can play directly from the C: or D: drive etc. Windows assigns all of the drives (be it Hard Drive, USB, CD, DVD, etc.). From there. you select the drive/folder and file you want to play and BOOM, you’re in business.
