Do the research yourself and go to a real DJ shop…mind you, the product you were buying could be purchased at any electronics store so knowledge of DJ gear isn’t necessary. Any electronics store can stock some decks and call themselves specialists but nothing beats going to a proper DJ store.

You wouldn’t happen to know of one in Novi Sad Serbia?

Yeah dude i get it.Don’t worry i didn’t mean to offend you either,we’ve obviously both had rather rough days. 🙂

Dj R. driver, post: 36506, member: 5499 wrote: wait, if you came to me and i worked at a music shop and all you asked for a splitter cables, id probably give you the hassle too. what kind of splitter? duh? maybe he was having fun with you thinking here goes another noob not knowing what exactly what he wanted. so id make you go through loops and bounds so next time you need an rca splitter, usb splitter, xlr splitter, id wait till you educated yourself. but wait! do you need a rca to xlr splitter, xlr to 1/4 inch spitter etc etc. o wait! do you need a xlr male to xlr female, 1/2 to rca omfg it goes on bro. come on. so u found it. good on you. btw what are dj splitter cables anyways? or maybe my 15 years of djing and my 3 nights a week residents ive missed this. Please someone enlighten me or teach me the ways. im sorry if you think im being too hard on you but if you are in a rush, need it on the asap, please know what you are looking for by nomenclature. because if not id have 8 hours to play around to make my day go by faster with my dry humor but also educating my customers to be specific to chose the exact cable you need to choose from the over 1000 different types i have in my inventory. thats all. i love you bro! no disrespect meant. cheers!

None taken and to be honest i understand your position on this.Although when i think about it if i came in to a store where someone like you described worked i’d probably make sure that store goes broke.I respect your opinion on this it’s just as valid as anyone elses, but think about it some more.Is the customers job to tell the clerk exactly what he wants right down to the serial number of the box,or is it the clerks job to make sure the customer has a good expirience whilst shopping and has the will to come back and shop again?

Thing is i really don’t think this guy was just having fun.Mainly because, and tell the trueth here,if a customer came in and yeah at first you might be confused by the DJ splitter cable, and by the way i think you’re taking the piss outa this as i’m sure you know what the term DJ spliter cable refers too since Phil him self uses the term on more then one occasion, but after the customer actually explains that he needs a 1/4 male stereo to two 1/4 female mono Y cable, you wouldn’t look at the guy with a blank face and go”Wha?”.That’s part one of the reason i know this guy wasn’t just having fun.Part two is that about 2 months prior to that i bought my Numark Mixtrack in the same shop from that same clerk, and this guy didn’t even know what a midi controller was and he ended up having to call his bosses son, who’s also a DJ,to ask what it was that i was asking about.

On a side note,no direspect meant, butwith that kind of attitude towards customers you wouldn’t get far as a sales person, and i should know since my father owns a shop and im the guy he asks who to hire.

In my opinion i think it’s different for everyone. Some people say being a DJ eventually ruins their enjoyment of music and it might very well do so, on the other hand for people like me who even as kids spent their days digging through music and with headphones on almost constantly[unless i was playing tetris],it really doesn’t do much.Infact i’d say it’s improved my enjoyment of the music as i get much much more intimate with my music nowadays.

Sad bit to this is that guys from the more developed countries such as England, netherlands and others as well as the US can actually get stuff online and GET the stuff they want.I on the other hand here in serbia can’t shop online and even if i could i’d have to go to out of country shops and get things shipped in which would almost double the cost of most items i’d need.

I wasn’t getting the cable specifically for the gig though man,i was getting it as a backup for my interface.Besides it wasn’t for a big gig it was for my little nephiews birthay. It was litteraly just about an hour of kids tunes just to make my nephiew happy and to save moneyz on buying a gift [ya i know im cheap sue me,i barely have enough to live.]

Yeah but that’s in countries where online shopping is actually available to the consumers. In Serbia and most ex YU Balkan countries Online shopping or well for that matter any sort of online transaction isn’t possible.

    >_> splitters are for DJs who might not be able to right now afford a soundcard and have a sufficient audio card integrated with their laptop and maybe don’t need as great sound quality.Such as my self,i’d be wasting money paying for a sound card when i DJ small parties where people barely listen to the music.

Great well you can look into getting Echo Indigo DJ sound card for your lappy after a while it’ll free you from the splitter, but for now while you practice and do smalleer stuff you can stick with the cables.

I usualy just remember that every DJ out there get nervous before a set, even pro’s with year and years and decades and eons, well maybe not eons, but definetly years of expirience behind them go through it just like me.then i give my self a pat on the back and then i just go and have fun.
