Having used Twitch for years this may be a bit biased but I absolutely LOVE it and does exactly what you are after. I can slip in my backup along with my laptop so size is perfect. In terms of control, simple 2 deck control (as long as you don’t mind touch strips, but i personally find them very easy to use). 8-cues / drum pads for each deck for samples, effects etc plus it has mic & aux inputs should you want them

You won’t get the same feel as the S2, i personally think the knobs and faders feel more firm + you have the traktor integration, but I stand by twitch 100%, perfect for portable DJing! I’d imagine as its been out for a while now you can probably get it for cheaper, got mine for £300 and that was 2 years ago

    Hope this helps

Because when I started off, I paid for the tutorials and I got like 100 hours of tutorials, went into detail for every little knob and it really helped a lot. I will admit, I don’t remember 90% of the stuff but I’ll always have those tutorials and at least I have an idea of how shit works. Free tutorials won’t give you that.

EDIT: Didn’t really answer your question though. I don’t know any good courses you can take, not from the UK, but I know for a fact that it will help a lot taking a class that will teach you how to use the software.

Good luck! Hope you find something.

Thanks for the response, no it did actually help quite a bit, because yes, the tutorials were all free ones. I have actually found an online course for a reasonable price of £69

But yeah, I suppose paid online courses might not be so bad, will have to keep looking into it

I liked the fact that not only are you not afraid to mix styles, you can do it in a way that sounds damn good. Also, that Big Bang mashup kicks any and all kinds of ass.

Thanks man, really great and constructive feedback and glad you enjoyed it 😉 If you liked that one, feel free to check out volume 1 as well. Thanks again!

Any advise as to what would be better for a beginner, jogs or touch strip?

    Thanks Phil
I always planned to go with Traktor Pro 2 which I know the TWITCH also works with, but having said that I have never actually tried Serato ITCH. The main point of concern for me in the jog wheels (or lack of) weather it would be good for a beginner to learn on a touch strip, or practise on jogwheels and move on up from there. In terms of the buttons that the S2 lacks is no problem as I plan to map my Korg Nano Pad and Axiom 25 to the functionality of Traktor that the S2 can’t handle. I guess the only other downside of the S2 is lack of aux ins (except a mic) and loop recorder but I’m wondering if this would be a big deal for a beginner? I hopefully plan on playing in clubs with it eventually.

The only other advantage of the TWITCH i can see apart from its compact size, multiple aux ins and emergency out is that it works with both ITCH, Traktor and also Abelton live which could be a plus

I guess its down to the jogwheels, as all the other things can be worked around, I don’t want to jump in too deep on the touchstrip and find out I should have started on jogwheels, but then again, it might be a lot easier than I’m thinking

    Really appreciate you advice Phil
