I just thought that those two requests were DJ myths that you guys tell to newbies like me for a laugh.Ha 🙂 now you can carry-on the ‘haze’

ParticipantWhile agreeing with most that has been said, I think peer pressure and the will for acceptance factor in heavily for the prevalence of drugs in any music scene.
Of the users you’d probably find 40-60% use as a means of habit or because they really feel like that’s the only way to connect to the vibe… :/ the other percentage would be the ones doing it because they assume that it’s a part of the ‘scene’ or because the person they came with is on something.. or they do it just to look cool.So while EDM and E (per se) may go hand-in-hand, I think it has alot less to do with the culture of things and more to do with an assumed perception of them.

ParticipantJust realized I feel absolutely naked without my Swiss Army Knife

Comes in handy alot when you have to MacGuyver some cables or screw/cut/jimmy whatever 🙂Arthol Gibson
ParticipantHere is my setup, please pardon the mess.. My current living setup doesnt allow for much storage/organization… 😳

Clockwise: Toshiba Satellite (15.6in […ladies] Screen, Dual Core 2.16/2.17, 4GB RAM, Windows 7 Ultimate), SkullCandy Hesh Headphones (50mm Drivers = solid sound, build quality equal to pricetag though :/), Logitech Tracball Mouse (from laptop only days – much easier to maneuver menus than touchpad), Numark NS6

Candy is one of my faves.. I love to drop that in for a hip-hop crowd and have them go 😮 then blend in ‘All Bout U’ from Tupac.. then theyre all :D:rolleyes:
DJ GRE, post: 1901 wrote: It’s an MJ song for me. However, if it’s something like the crossfader situation I will just do it again – make it sound like an effect, like you meant to do it – turn on the ‘gater’. 😉
I’ve turned on the ‘gater’ a few times when a scratch session goes awry.. just kinda repeat the snafu with the same timing, lol

I’d go to this with least forgiving crowds.. or if the timelapse was short enough

ParticipantHey, Paul.. I can’t really give any leans on the other as I havent toyed with them but I did get an NS6 recently and, depending how creative you are or want to be with your set, it’s a pretty decent buy.
The setup and learning curve is pretty straight-forward, especially if it wont be your first foray in actually using tangible gear.
Im still getting the hang of it and will sometimes find myself stumbling but the custom version of ITCH that it comes with is seamless with connectivity and relativity to the midi controls.
Bouncing between four decks, if you venture there, comes second nature after a while and is pretty solid in functionality. It is pretty heavy as someone said but the positive on that is that it looks and feels superb. The build quality is sturdy and abuse-ready.
Interoperability with VDJ 7 is pretty easy too, once you download the midi-map, which is free at press-time. I didnt try it with the four deck skin but everything reacted as it should, save for some tweaks here and there.so… yeah 🙂

That was a really tight set broham 🙂 really liked that white-out effect you did with the video at around 8:40, in tune with the mix 😉

Participantdouble.deez, post: 1549 wrote: The most annoying for me is the one that ask if you can hook up their iphone lol. …
Oh I so hate these folk.. and to top it off, if your setup is open like mine, they would proceed to bring the mp3 player to you so you can, basically, stop what youre doing so you can hear this amazing request that’s not in your library… ugh!

Participantdouble.deez, post: 1589 wrote: do you guys think a quote like “Good music, for good times” is too cheesy? Any ideas for short, memorable quotes to put on?
I Think the cheese factor would come with your market, demographic-wise and maturity-wise. That quote sounds cool but it would make me think of you as either an Old School or Wedding DJ. *shrug*
