I have owned both and would always go for the 1200s. They have been the de-facto analogue DJ turntable for 25 years and still dominate the turntabilist / hip-hop scene. They are as sturdy as a turntable you will find and just run and run.

Additionally, if you are going to play out they are still the most likely turntable you will find in any bar or club.

All of my music is on my Macbook; which is then automatically backed up (hourly!) via my wirless netowrk to an external drive using Apple’s Time Machine software!

    My tip is ‘Echo Out’.

It is perfect for getting out of trouble if you are struggling to perfectly beat-match two tracks and need to move on to the next tune. Just hit echo-out and then cut / drop in the next tune and move on. It has long been my go-to effect to prevent a ‘train wreck’ blend.

been reading DDT for a while now, great site Phil! and thought it was time to maybe start posting some stuff on the boards, been into djing for a while, then stopped cause of no money, now got back into it through a friend. Bought a secondhand mixtrack pro now and want to start doing some serious djing 🙂 i have a indie/rock background, also play bass, but really digging the german techno and deep house right now 🙂

    cheers!

…and (although not particularly relevant to a digital DJ site) your home-town hosts one of THE greatest record fairs known to man. I have literally spent days walking up-and down the floor of the Jaarbeurs Hall in the past!!!!
