I can understand why it would be smart to for a company to invest in new cheaper gear. The truth is DJing is a very easy solution for kids who can’t play the piano, or who can’t sing to do something with music. Most of the kids who buy the cheap controller are never going to take it to the next level, and maybe they don’t want to. DJing is a good way for kids to have a musical hobby, even if they’re never going to be playing clubs and the like. Plus, for someone like me, the cheap controller is an easy way for me to learn the basics and get a feel for DJing while I try to work up the money for a much nicer, more professional controller. Any way you look at it, it gives us poor DJ’s something to work with, and it gives kids a nice hobby that may turn into a career. Heck, I got a friend who bought one just to help him mix and add effects for his band. So all I got to say is, it’s a win win thing, the only downside I can see is companies investing less money into high end controllers.

Hey man, you gotta give the kids credit. It takes a lot of cajones to get up there at 13 and be on the same level (or near to it) as adults. As long as their having fun, more power to them.

I chose my DJ name from the things in my life that I love and that have helped shape who I am. DJ Whocca is partially from Doctor Who, and my nickname as a child, Pooka (from the film Harvey). Plus it sounds like Hookah witch is one thing I also love. So I created my own name from strong influences in my life, as well as things I generally like.

Man I hope that EDM defines the 2010’s decade. I am so burnt out on the 2000’s music generation. Though there are gems, a vast amount of mainstream stuff was just crap (And I’m talking about my own generation here). I grew up listening to a way different style of music (ELO, Queen, Def Leppard, Elvis Costello, David Bowie, and much more). My favorite song when I was two was Pump it Up, and when I was four it was Sweet Dreams. I may be only Twenty years old, but I got a good education on music as a whole. I listen to everything, classical, big band, jazz, rock, bluegrass, rap, hip hop, and even some country, but I’m very picky about it. To get back to the point, I like almost everything I hear, but music as a whole over the last decade seemed to be getting rather bland. It was generic, unoriginal, and uninspiring with a few exceptions. However, EDM has given me faith in modern music and modern music listeners. I was at a Rave at a Convention a few years back, and the song that rocked the house the most wasn’t a modern remix or anything like that, it was a wicked awesome remix of Thriller, and that made my night. We had the entire crowd of Ravers doing the Thriller dance. And I also hope that we get some seriously awesome Middle Eastern EDM as well, that would make my decade man. 😎

In my opinion David Guetta is a pretty cool cat. I have to say I give the guy credit because unlike some in the music industry, he actually cares about the music. Yeah so his stuff tends to be more mainstream. I think what he’s trying to do is what we’re all trying to do. Turn people on to a new style and have fun with music. I’m an 80’s New Wave and Rock aficionado and I want to bring my love of Yaz, The Cars, and Icehouse to the world (as well as newer stuff). So I give credit where credit is due. He’s an introduction to House music, and more power to him for broadening people’s musical tastes.
