They did a study a few years ago in an attempt to build a cross platform PC/console FPS. The 360/PS3 players got utterly wrecked because the PC mouse was so much more accurate than sticks. Just thought your comment was funny

ParticipantHere’s the link to Prey (Oh, and i post links all the time, so i guess its okay as long as it’s relevant and not spam)
I mean, GPS tracking, Data/password wipe, remote camera access, Remote lockdown, and for free? Amazing!

ParticipantA good place to start might be small “urban places” like hookah bars, small coffee shops, that kind of thing. They sometimes like to have DJs come in there

ParticipantAs far as i know, the only devices with full Remix Deck functionality are the F1 and the Midi Fighter, Maschine is just as limited in controlling remix decks as anything else (Again, as far as I know). Also, if you’re leaning towards producing tracks, Maschine is definitely more suited for it, seeing as it was built for that, whereas Traktor is built for DJing, and the Remix Decks are for more of a “live performance remix + creative in the moment track creation” than say, “in the studio”

ParticipantGood advice. I always liked the Microsoft Zune logo and wanted something similar to it. Also I thought the design looked kind of like a record crate, but that may just be me

Its more of the ” If youre not using _________, then youre a complete poser” idea. Ive done sets on Vista, 7, and OSX. They’re all 75% the same

The reality of life is that this is a business, and if the masses of people in front of the DJ booth could care less, then the anti-sync guys have lost this war…Sync is a tool. Plain and simple…I mentioned in the 2013 Resolutions for DJs that it’s time to bury the hatchet between the analog-only guys and digital. It’s done and over.
Now if we could just get this attitude about Mac vs. PC

Participantyeah, it wouldn’t be for that, i’m definitely getting an external harddrive. As for security, I already have a K-Lock. I’m also looking into opening it up and taking part of the unibody to Things Remembered or something, and getting my info engraved on the inside of the case, and also tracking software like Prey that can remote lock, data wipe, snap photos, that kind of thing

Trust me, it is stupid to go to a concert, party, festival, anything without some serious ear protection. Like many in the industry I have Tinnitus, not very bad, but it is there every day all day. Also, according to my latest audiogram, I have the hearing of a person 15 years older than I actually am (and I am 49).And the nasty thing is, you might not notice til way later in your life what damage was done at a younger age.
You get better comfort and better (flatter) frequency response if you get some custom earplugs. These are a lot more expensive, but then again, what is it worth to keep your ears intact?
Greetinx,
C.V-Moda Faders Musicians earplugs. -12dB across full spectrum, without muting sounds, it just lowers everything. $20 retail, maybe 15 on ebay
Here’s the official website

I recently had a graphic designer from the media/design school I go to (Fullsail) take a rough mockup I made, and give me a few different versions and also made changes I wanted for pretty cheap. Shoot her an email, she had my stuff back to me the next day. All for $60.
dayna.alderman@att.netThanks for the link. I’ll definitely shoot her an email after I get my funds back up (In college so $$$ is tight at the moment)

My big tip would be to get an SSD for it. Great performance boost. Depending on the amount of music you intend to carry around and your budget, you can either get a bigger SSD (256GB is pretty decent budget-wise these days) and put everything on it, or you can get a smaller one 64GB-128GB and stick it in a special bracket that fits into the bay that houses your optical (CD/DVD) drive.
I’d say it is the single most impressive performance gain you can get (even more than doubling your ram to 8GB!)
Greetinx,
C.I’m thinking i’ll keep the CD drive (for burning mixtapes, things like that), but definitely swapping out the SATA HDD. Will basically any SSD drive work? I’m also thinking of getting this as well

ParticipantI pretty much agree with Terry. Its a tool to be used. That being said, I’m learning to manually beatmatch and saving the sync as a “emergency big red button” sort of thing, but i do like to make use of the remix decks, hotcues etc, as well as the EQ tweaking
