Great advice. If you want to practice, just find the most chill, downtempo tracks you have, and just practice with those until you feel a little more confident. One thing I do is set iTunes on random, let it play a song, check the BPM, open Traktor, and just try to mix on top of it. Its weird at first, but it simulates opening a set mixing into the DJs last song, and (as far as I can tell) improves your ability to go on the fly from any song you hear

This is an article on 5 ways to mix between large tempo changes. Was just about to mention that, nice job beating me to it lol. But that article is really good. Also, don’t be too upset. You said you were playing in clubs, so you are definitely getting somewhere with your skill level. You could try mixing harmonically if you’re not already. I find this usually allows me to drop the intro vocals of one song over the bridge of another, with maybe a little filter, some effects, and it sounds pretty good most of the time. And it is good sometimes to just slam the fader across, it keeps the crowd interested

ParticipantWill do. But the first track is basically the same as NERD’s “Hot n’ Fun”

ParticipantAn inexpensive laptop probably wont be able to run any kind of DJ software, seeing as they’re really not that powerful. I dont know what type and generation of iPod you have, but you might want to pick up a copy of djay, a DJ splitter, and maybe a small iOS DJ controller. Yes, it sucks to mix on, but its cheap, doesn’t take up as much space as a laptop, and you can do a basic mix while you attempt to fix the problem

ParticipantIf it helps, look for good remixes of top 40 by different house/EDM artists. I personally don’t like playing top 40, but things like Nicky Romero’s remix of Titanium, or the Panic City & MegaMan remix of Rocketeer can move a crowd and keep me satisfied

Participantthe only option might be to contact serato and try to get them to deactivate or release the license. It could take quite a while though
