ParticipantThis is 2nd thread about same topic. Lock it?

ParticipantThis thread is pure entertainment.

ParticipantIf you got a basic two channel mixer and an A2DJ, you could then take that out with you and plug into other mixers. Wheras with a digital mixer you’d either have to take that with you to gigs, or buy a separate soundcard (like the A2DJ) anyway.

ParticipantWhen I first got traktor, the novelty of sync was great, and I used it a lot.
Since I got my S4 I’ve had a great time going back to beatmatching manually and only using sync for specific things, pretty much just if I want to change the tempo of both decks whilst mixing two tracks.July 3, 2011 at 9:43 pm in reply to: So who DOESN'T use Traktor, Serato or Virtual DJ as their mixing software? #2692Alex Wild

Isn’t Torq ‘Made’ by Avid?

ParticipantAre there any mix train threads going on here? I’d be well up for doing one.

For this gig, I’d change that to ‘play music THEY love’. If it’s a friends birthday you want they to enjoy themselves with good background music, they’re not going to be watching you mixing all night and raving it up to deep underground tunes. Play fun party stuff. When i’ve been in this situation before I’ve asked the person who’s party it is to send me a list of their favourite tunes so I know I can play them for him/her.
If it’s a BBQ, you cant go wrong with some classic party hip hop, reggae, soul, maybe some top 90s tunes too.

ParticipantJust thinking about the flipside of this debate. We’ve all been talking about the role of drugs for the listener, but what about for the writer? You can’t deny that A LOT of good music has been created under the influence, or been inspired by it.

ParticipantFor me it’s Candy by Cameo, can’t fail to get the party going again with that one.

I have traktor set to ‘only load into a stopped deck’ to stop this ever happening.

ParticipantI’ll preface this by saying that I don’t take anything stronger than alcohol these days.
However, when I first got into Drum and Bass, I really liked listening to it on pirate radio and from mixtapes. But it wasn’t until I went to my first rave and took something cheeky that I really GOT that music.
I’m not saying that everyone has to take something to get into certain types of music, but that’s just how it happened for me, and it was a great experience.June 29, 2011 at 8:40 pm in reply to: Apart from your DJ gear, what's one item you wouldn't be without at your gigs? #1000629Alex Wild
ParticipantI’ve got a desktop fan I put in front of the mixer to keep my face cool… 😎

ParticipantKeep at it and keep practising. It can take a long time to get all the skills to put a good track together. Just make whatever sounds good to you. As long as you’re having fun it’s good!
About that track in particular, you could do with some more sounds in there, and change the song as it progresses.
