ParticipantIf they’re all 5 stars for you, what does it matter what anyone else thinks?

That is all. 🙂
Played that last night and it went OFF!
My top 5, off the top of my head:
…
…no, it’s too hard actually.

ParticipantFor a short sample no-one would probably notice, but id stick to 320s if possible.

ParticipantPalms on the faders! Sounds nuts, I cant imagine it. It must look like you’re praying :p

ParticipantHang on a sec. Have you got one of those A&H mixers where the gains are on the back? If so, it explains a lot.
Alex Wild
ParticipantI mix lots of stuff. No scratching though.

ParticipantYou get a lower noise floor with 24bit, so yeah its better quality for recording.
For playing over a club PA to a packed room of pissed-up punters, not necessary.Alex Wild
ParticipantExcept that with your method I wouldn’t be able to do cuts on the line faders (as I couldn’t fling the fader back up to the top). Which was kinda my question about 4-5 posts ago! 😀
Probably you dont use the faders for cuts is the obvious answer…
Alex Wild
ParticipantTbh, I wouldn’t find myself in that situation as I make sure that I’ve got enough headroom by setting the incoming gains and the master out to allow for the flexibility you’re talking about.

Participant@U31 How would the end result be any different? Assuming you’re not boosting it into the red of course.

Welllll… They’re not irrelevant. I always keep mine at full (whilst the track is on obviously) so I can use them to cut. I set levels with the gain knob.

Why have channel faders at 3/4? How do you do cuts on the faders?
In response to Phil’s post, I once had a manual that came with some yamaha tape 4 track that said on the first page:
“A BAD RECORDING OF A GOOD SONG IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN A GOOD RECORDING OF A BAD SONG”Amen.

ParticipantI cant believe how many times ive gone to set up and found all the EQs on the mixer turned up full. What was the last guy doing?! First thing I do is zero the mixer and start from fresh.
