Sunday Night Mixes, 2013: Part 41 – Tubular Beats

As a long time fan of Mike Oldfield I couldnt let this one go by!

On 1 February 2013 Tubular Beats was released by Mike Oldfield and the German producer York. Unlike previous club remixes of Oldfields work this project was a true collaboration, making use of parts from the original multitrack tapes as well as new parts played by Oldfield himself.

This mix features several of the tracks mixed into one adventure so have fun with this modernized tour into nostalgia!

    Enjoy it here –> http://i.mixcloud.com/CCKDX9

Mike Oldfield – Tubular Bells (Mike Oldfield & York Remix)

That might be true, but one thing I gotta hand to Steinberg, the creators of cubase. Fifteen years ago I played my ass off with Cubase on the Atari ST. And very recently I tried one of the newest versions, and after the initial suffering with setting up the devices and routes, I was amazed how much of the original workflow was still there and how intuitively that allowed me to work on all the new digital features.

    As a side note…

    Who is The Collective?

    Mr. Chris (England)
    Scottieboy (Scotland)
    Huas (The Netherlands)
    GMLAB (The Netherlands)
    REDNOTE (Canada)
    Sounds By JB (The Netherlands)

    How does the collaboration work?

Each member of the collective adds some of their favorite oldschool tracks in a shared dropbox. The choice depend on the additions from the other members. Once enough material is collected its all mixes together into one big party.

    Is there more?

    Hell yeah! http://www.mixcloud.com/jboerlage/playlists/the-collective/
