I’ll make this simple. change the serato settings to record in .wav then later use an external program to convert .wav’s into .mp3. I use an obsolete program “Winamp” with a conversion plug in made by a Chinese guy. Forgot his name, but it’s stupid simple and allows clean encoding into 320 bit.

After all that, uploaded to wherever. There are other software bundles that will allow for conversion as well. I’m sure someone else can chime in. I just like Winamp as it’s what I grew up with and what i’ve stuck with even after AOL bought them and fubar’d the company.

I just record live from Serato. Less focus on software the better. I want to think of nothing but the music and how it flows together.

Never even heard of this brand.. I wouldn’t trust it.

Stick with JBL, Yamaha, QSC, and Mackie.

    …. It….. Worked…

    Holy…. crap..

but… The video quality was terrible.

Figured out a different and better way. With all the frustration I’ve had I decided to record a How video and put it on Youtube

Can’t get this to work at all.

    Attempt 1.
    MS Movie maker
    — Couldn’t record from webcam – Error regaurding audio source
    — Changed audio on webcam to record from webcam instead of DDJSX2
    — No change. Same error
    — Rebooted.

    Attempt 2.
    Webcam works
    Controller not found.
    Rebooted

    Attempt 3.
    Same.

    Attempt 4.
    Controller works
    Webcam does not.

    FML.

Hmm… Just realized the XLR cable I’m using was the Coax to XLR. Just ordered 2 more XLR-XLR cables on amazon to replace it so I can get those Coax outputs on my DDJSX2 free and run that in via a 3.5mm jack to the laptop.

Will have to wait a couple days for this to roll in before I can ghetto rig this.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will give it a shot.

Right now I’m trying to use Logitech’s webcam software.

    Bob,

That’s one way to do it, but I’m trying to avoid to have to do more video editing then needed. I’d like to do it all in one and live.

    edit: windows 8.1

If you have 4 gigs of ram, 2.6 MHz processor and 500 gigs of storage. It will do. Doesn’t really matter. USB ports should be at least 3, though you can always buy a splitter. Would recommend at least a 15′ screen.

Don’t need anything expensive or advanced. Almost any laptop will work.

I’ve been told by other DJ’s to always spin in Mono. Reason being is if the crowd will only hear some of the music and miss the other part. Example: Some oldies favor vocals on the right channel while instruments are mostly on the left.

I’m not sure if I buy into this if you simply ADD MOAAARR POWER!!! however it’s very situational.

Use whatever makes sense. If it’s a small place and your speakers are not spread to far apart, Stereo is great. If it’s a larger place, go for mono to insure all aspects of the songs are not lost.

I’ve never been a big fan of Behringer. I find the quality low and long term reliability low-moderate. I do like their mixers though. Lot of bang for little buck. I’m not entirely sure anything they make for audio is going to bang. You’re better off looking at Yamaha, QSC, Mackey, or JBL.

really loving the Yamaha DXR series. 1100 watts per speak. Sounds amazing. Not that large either and fits comfortably in any sedan. The 15′ sub on the other hand can be a handful as it’s ridiculously large.

    OTUS,

Vintage makes a really good point. Mixtrack ProII is a great controller. It was my first controller. I would focus on things like professional gig bags, cases, a great light set up (if you’re thrifty, amazon has some great pics that do the trick for minimal cost). and stands. While I own the DDJ-SX2, I could do the same job on the Mixtrack ProII no problem. I just so happen to like the SX2 a lot better due to it’s quality of build and flexibility. Though to be honest, I don’t know how to use half the functions haha. (Working on it!)

Professionalism is about meeting the customers need and being attentive to their needs. Showing up on time and doing the scope of work expected. Long as everyone is having fun, music is loud and sounds great, good lights to make it feel like a party, You will do just fine with your current controller.

IMO Buy a Sub. Not a new controller.
