ParticipantAs far as audio goes, I would stick with the DJ Audio over the gaming. It’s best to use stuff that was designed for DJing. Dolby digital surround sound and all that stuff is awesome when you’re playing destiny. But when you’re rocking a crowd, you want something was designed to be taken to a gig. Like we said earlier, mixtrack pro is the better choice and includes a built in soundcard. But if you still feel strongly about the mixtrack for virtual dj, then buy a numark external soundcard for it. This all applies if you will be out doing parties though.

ParticipantHey there! I was in a similar situation to yours. I had a controller that was terribly mapped. The sync button started the music. If I were you I would go for the S2 because you can easily add to it later on with traktors other controllers like F1 and keep expanding even to a four deck setup. S2 has a booth out too which will suit your needs. Plus having your extra two decks separate will allow you to disconnect them and focus and your main 2 during gigs and mobile events. Btw Assuming you mean 3.5mm jack on the hercules, the RCA outs are better. Hope this helps.
PS I also recommend checking out the Denon DJ gear too. They are great for mobile DJ’s.
One more thing!
Don’t choose your software to what your buddies use. Give them all a try and see what suits you. If you don’t need very much sampler control and other options. Traktor may be more than what you need. Give Serato or Virtual DJ a try. Those are very popular among party DJ’s

ParticipantIf I were you I would easily take the DDJ SX2. Hauling around a mix deck quad isn’t gonna be that convinient. Someone at a wedding might surprise you with some CD’s or USB’s and ask you to play them. But you can put them in your laptop and serato will recognize them right there. Doing that will save you lots of trouble instead of carrying around a giant media player. Like Vintage mentioned the Denon controllers, those are brilliant for mobile too because they’re compact and portable, they are loud, and have good sound quality too. For serato best Denon would be MC2000 MC4000 or MC6000MK2. Just my thoughts

ParticipantIf I were you I would easily go for the mix track pro 2. Because it’s bundled with Serato DJ Intro. Serato Intro is the best free software in my opinion because it has enough features to do a whole gig. Plus a good upgrade path. But the next step up from the pro 2 would be the demon MC2000 it usually goes for around 350-300. But I got mine here for 199.
It’s built better and is tightly mapped to serato. Also has gain knobs which will come in handy. Check out the review on it on the digitaldjtips site. Be sure to check it out and compare themSolow
ParticipantA PC Laptop is going to give you a better price point obviously. You also have much more elbow room because you can do more with it. For Example if it runs slow, you have the option to add more RAM or upgrade your processor(stuff MAC won’t allow). On the other hand, Macbooks have pretty good stability which will let you DJ with ease at a gig without worrying about your computer surprising you with a sudden stop in your music. There are also good stable PC’s out there too if you wanna spend a little extra money. Either way you can still do good with any. If you buy a PC I recommend that you make sure it has about 4 Gigs of RAM. The more the better

ParticipantI like your guys views. I’m pretty punctual so I’ll be there early. I’ll really try to relax on the mixing perfection too. Thanks

ParticipantThat’s a pretty big jump! I haven’t mixed 4 decks with hardware before but I would probably try using 3 of them and then start adding in the 4th one

ParticipantHey there vintage. I’ve seen lots of your posts before. I’m a younger guy from California. I got lots of younger friends so some people still kind of view me as a kid(not the best for gigs). I also have older friends too though in their 20’s in stuff. Kind of trying to build the mature reputation since I’m kind of stuck in the middle as a teen. I like playing lots of EDM at home but people on the west coast kind of dismiss music they don’t know or aren’t used to so I’ll be playing more pop music and stuff at parties. I started DJing about a year ago just messing around with Traktor on mobile and had a blast. Then I started laptop DJing with a software called Mixxx and then also started trying Traktor LE and VDJ LE. Right now I’ve been mixing with a Denon DJ MC2000 (highly praised by Phil). It’s an excellent piece of gear compared to my first Vestax VCI 100 Which had no sound card and endless mapping problems. I run Serato DJ Intro which seems to be enough to get by compared to the other free softwares. I went to serato because of its reputation as a stable software. It’s also very popular with DJ’s in my area(lots of them use numark). For headphones I’ve been using Pioneer HDJ 500’s which I like pretty well. I’m always reading up on new stuff though. Other than that just trying to keep on track with mixing and keeping my mixes exciting.
