True true. I totally get that it’s more than just getting the speeds the same. I’ve been DDJing for about a year now so know about using the jog wheels to line the beats up etc. my point was – while a 128bpm track is playing on cdjs, you can load a 125bpm track, and use the pitch slider to bring it up to 128bpm (the bpm’s being displayed) before pressing play and then all you need to do is press play then line the beats up using the jog wheels. This process seems essentially the same with DDJing only your pressing a button instead of using the pitch slider.
I can get why some vinyl djs (the douche bag ones anyway) might take issue as they don’t have the benefit of the display showing the bpm’s. but why do some CDJ DJs have a problem with it when the process is pretty much identical to DDJing.

    1) Controllerism is the underground imo
    2) I don’t give a damn what you’re using to mix music with, I only care about the end result.

I’m working on booking a Valentine’s Day Rave myself (http://www.digitaldjtips.com/forum/threads/edm-djs-in-dc-looking-for-a-starting-venue.7283/) and I’m encouraging controllerists to come out of the woodworks and show some daisy-chained cue-juggled awesomeness. Classical pianists complained when synths came out, I’m sure drummers are still dying inside seeing maschine guys, and I believe controllerism takes the focus off of the more tedious aspects of djaying (cue dropping and vinyl switching) and allows more focus on effects/live remixing/ableton setups/etc. Also, my back isn’t sore due to lugging around flightcases full of vinyls I may only want to use for a single track.

It’s a shame you’re not in the UK mate cos that would be perfect!

I agree with you about the mixtrack looking toyish. That was my main fear! Ive been practicing like a mo fo this past week! I know i shouldnt be locking down an entire set but it just seems to keep going that way naturally. Think ill have a skeleton set list but bring some extra tracks to throw in as i see fit on the night.Cheers for the advice dude. All taken on board 🙂

Great cheers mate! So it seems it’s all about going in with the right attitude and ignoring the haters. With the headphones – I think I am currently using that technique of just using the one headphone pushed against my ear. Are you saying that’s better than having the headphones on both ears?

Cheers for your advise buddy 🙂

1a) I already know how to use the cue mix function, I’m just worried that the sound coming from the speakers will be so loud they’ll just drown out the headphones whatever position the cue mix knob is at.

1b) Sorry, not quite sure what you mean here, could you elaborate on this a bit – i.e. the functionality of the extra output and how this might help during a set (sorry this is just me being a noob!)

    2) So true mate! I’ve just heared that some djs tend to look down their noses at difital djs. But then, many vinyl djs felt the same when cdj’s came out. At the end of the day its the end product that counts, so gotta make sure I practice so I can smash it on the night 🙂 Just the pre first gig jitters making me worry about the little things a think!

Thanks again, really appreciate your input.

    Thanks Phil.

I wonder if you could help me with a problem that’s recently occured with Virtual DJ 7. I’ve been using it for months with no problems, but just over the past few days, a problem has occured with the sync function – whenever i sync a slower track to match the bpm of the faster track – eg syncing an 86.00bpm track to match an 87.50bpm track so they’re both showing the same – the track that was orininally slower now actually plays slightly faster than the other track, even though VDJ shows the bpm’s as the same. This basically makes it impossible to mix.
I’ve tried restoring the factory settings and uninstalling and reinstalling VDJ, but the problem still persists.

Have you heard of this happenng before? And if so, do you have any idea what I can do to fix it? I’d really appreciate some help with this one as I’m dying to get my mix on!
