Thanks for pointing out screenflow – seems like a good program, i will test it – when i have an mac 😉

I don’t know if a Macbook Pro can handle DJing, screen-, video- AND audio recording seamlessly without running out of CPU power or causing spikes. My old windows Laptop i’m using for Djing surely can’t. But you can try!

I try to explain how I do it at the moment, maybe you get a few ideas!

The way i solve the problem with syncing up audio and video is routing the booth output of my s4 to the line-in of my second PC to which a webcam is connected, too. If your controller has only one audio output, you could use a stereo-splitter cable.

Video from Webcam + audio from controller -> Capture software = Video with synced up with audio

Now you only need a screenrecorder software on your Dj laptop and sync the parts you want later with your Video you’ve created on your second laptop.

This way my DJ Laptop isn’t bothered with tasks unrelated to djing and the quality of your recording will be nice. Of course you need a decent video capture device, unlike mine – a pixelmaschine-webcam…

The program i use for Video/Audio capture is NCH Debut – It’s for Mac and PC and can record the screen, too.
And its free for private usage! -> link

I hope you get a few Ideas from this – I will definitely try screen recording now 🙂

    Hello

Thanks for a detailed response, Im pretty sure my macbook pro would run screen flow and serato DJ at the same time without any memory problems, I think they bother require 2gb of ram and I have 8gb so I should be fine. Ill be sure to check out NCH debut though.

I also have a windows laptop so will consider doing as you’ve suggested, although I think using my iphone would capture better quality footage.

I will maybe still try syncing the audio with the video, lining the the first beat with myself pressing play shouldn’t be too tricky, fingers crossed.

    Michael
