Highs:
Several, but I think playing the after-party for the “The Who” concert in Club Ziggo in Amsterdam was golden! Preparation was spot on, had people dancing and enjoying themselves. Another high was a party for the Rotary celebrating their anniversary on a ship doing a tour of the Rotterdam harbour. Not the first time on a ship, but always a joy. Especially since this ship had good panoramic windows and the weather was clear blue (night) skies.
Finally, becoming a moderator on here and being able to contribute my two cents or more to a great place with lots of friendly folks.
Lows:
Some technical f*ck-ups. Too much the perfectionist I let that eat at me. Which I shouldn’t do, but hey. Only human right?
Ambitions and plans 2014:
Looking at getting a monthly residency at a new place. Probably going 80s/90s theme night or something. Furthermore becoming the DJ for a 4-woman singing group that is doing very well singing 80s stuff. They now perform two sets of about 40 minutes, but want a regular DJ to do warm-up, play during their break and do the “after-party”. Should be a semi-regular thing. Easy work, just bring controller, plug into PA and play.
If I can pull that off, with my regular gigs, I’ll be tripling my DJ-ing nights next year.
Further more I intend to get back to daily practice, get some serious time in with my scratching course. Prepping my new collection for use with Cross software. Getting the latest DJ gear all in flightcases and with all cabling and such squared away. Work on my PR materials (banner, extra DJ table with printed skirt, website) and on my image.
Hoping to finally meet the DDJT crew in person at the Prolight+Music fair in Frankfurt this year. And perhaps even a few of our readers as well!
Wishing you all a very musical 2014!
