Is it your intention to use the RX with the iOS version of RB? On an iPad?

Or do you just want to use the iPad to prep your collection?

Since re-digitizing can be done by various software in an automated fashion meaning a one time action and a while for your computer to process, it could be a good plan to go ahead and put everything on 256AAC if you want to stick with the Apple ecosystem and avoid all problems.

I think the list shows the file formats that the XDJ-RX supports when using RB-prepared sticks and as such AIFF should not be a problem as it is listed on the compatibility list.

Hiya – sorry, possibly did a really bad job of explaining myself there.

I’m currently a desktop Mac user and use Rekordbox. All my files play perfectly through the software using AIFF format files.

I’d like to keep them this way if possible.

If they play ok on a Mac using Rekordbox, why then is it a problem for the XDJRX to read them? (particularly when the desciptions suggest they work fine when coming from a PC) – confused!

I’m referring to this statement on the Pioneer website:
“iOS version of rekordbox: MP3 and AAC only”

If my files won’t play (or will they?), does this mean I need to invest in a new laptop/tablet that isn’t Apple?

I hope this makes sense – the intention is to stay with my current Mac if possible, I just don’t want to redigitise my music files to a new format.

    Cheers!

There is an iOS version of RekordBox for the iPad. It does not support anything other than MP3 and AAC. That is only relevant if you want to use your iPad to work on your collection.

The RX should take AIFF files when transferred to a RekordBox USB-stick from your MAC.

So, essentially I don’t see there being a problem, again unless you intend to use the iPad version of RB for working on your collection. If stick with the Mac you should be fine imho.

    Hi Rob, Vintage,

    iOS -> IPad, Iphone, Ipod
MacOS/OSX -> Macbook, iMac, Mac Pro, Mac mini

Rob, you just mixed up iOS with OSX.
On MacOS/OSX you will be fine.

    regards,
