I was supposed to play an hour between rock bands at a college campus party, but the last band swooped in, set up in 10 min, and started playing right over me. Very inconsiderate.

… and so, despite their love of my music, I refuse to open for the metalheads again any time soon. I know that feeling, D-Jam.

I was playing an early morning slot in London, following on from the main guest Terry Francis, and decided to slow things down a bit… I played ‘Why’ by Carley Simon and completely misjudged the crowd, or at least one dude in the crowd – he took great offence to this record (which I still think is a quality track btw), marched on to the stage and tipped a pint over the deck playing the record.. I just stood there thinking wtf??!!

Yeah, I wasn’t about to do anything as he looked like a proper gangster.. but it was fairly shocking.. makes for a good story though!!

This past January, New Year’s Eve house party, I had two drunkards come up to my setup while I was taking a leak, open up YouTube and start playing some idiotic viral video… they were the only two who were enjoying it. Cut the music right off. Granted it was a party with only close friends, but still, if I had been on the other side, I’d never consider doing that.

Ultimately I blame myself for being drunk and stupid enough to leave my setup unattended. Crime of opportunity I guess. 🙁

Relatively harmless compared to what some of you have shared here.

I had a mains fuse trip on me once, so the whole place was suddenly silent. I dont use a mic (i dont do shoutouts) so I had to shout something about technical difficulties and an apology while the bar manager tried to fix the power. Most people were sympathetic, except one drunk girl who came up and started asking me for requests. I pointed out that there was NO MUSIC PLAYING due to power failure and that there hadn’t been for a few minutes, to which she replied “really? I hadn’t noticed…”

Nothing serious has happened to me, just the usual switch breaker tripping and all power shutting down and place going into darkness was quite a bad one. That’s about it for me.

I was told that is he a family member and was playing for free so I wasn’t needed. They wanted me to give back the $100 deposit back, I politely told them to “eat it”. Funny but true 😡

Man, that is really messed up. I can imagine how that must have felt, getting all prepared and excited to play and then boom. They could have called you and let you know or something. I surely wouldn’t have given that deposit back either.
