I just found out there are tracks without vocals. Those should be safe no?

She’s apparently more criticizing the scene.

However, I’d blame the lipstick feminists who jumped into all that. Lord knows a few years ago many old school ravers like myself were surprised how the “gogo dancer” outfit became the new “raver girl” outfit…when in the past it was big baggy jeans, a tanktop, and fuzzy backpack.

If women want to run around looking for attention, then femdom should work harder to educate them as well as brush off the “you’re just jealous because all the guys want me” comments.

Frankly, this kind of thing is nothing new. Look at the gogo dancer trend that’s been around for a number of years, or women who dress skimpy to clubs and act whorish. The problem is the same as it’s always been…lipstick feminism. It’s girls who think they have power because guys are drooling over them, or women who put their sense of self-worth on how many guys want them.

Obviously the writer of the article not really that knowledgeable about the “EDM” scene, hence she called it EDM in the first place made her lose all her credibility to me. To qoute:

“Where Mah Girls At?
It’s nearly 2014, and yet the DJ Mag Top 100 includes five women,…”

Don’t see why she based her facts on those DJ Mag thingie, female DJ’s while they do rare, but they pretty darn skillful, DJ Rap for example, one of my favorite female DJ, she defines the Jungle genre, she just…ROCK ! When I first admired her, i don’t even know what she looks like, I just admired the work she did, so yeah sexist eh ? Whataver zzz…

I really have no clue on what the EDM scene is like. I remember the scene D-Jam talked about. All I know of current EDM is the photos I see in DJ mags. I do see photos of women like the author described. Yet, photos can be misleading. That could have been one or two women out of a hundred that behaved the way the photo shows. (As someone who has recently been photographing for a nightclub, I know this.) As far as the nightlife being sexist, EDM is definitely not the only scene doing this.

I love the amount of research that has clearly went into this articles. Clearly they got a balanced opinion, enforced both sides, asked a large sample…

Nope, They just picked up the most revealing EDM magazine, and festival videos they could find! Ain’t the media scumbags sometimes?

i wonder what would happen if you asked her to specify exactly what EDM is?

I love how they are quick to point fingers at EDM, But let’s not forget about the countless amounts of pop music videos which tend to be a bit exposing (Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, I can go on for hours…)
