I think you’re right, but in any period of change there are those with fixed ideas or vested interests who will resist.
I think some performance angle can definitely get lost in all of this if the digital DJ isn’t careful, and I also think that believing the technology will make you into a musician is dangerous.
But frankly there were many DJs “back in the day” who stood there like statues beatmatching boring music… flawlessly.
There will always be those who put in an electric performance and produce something creative, and that goes from iPod DJs up to full-blown electronic onstage acts, with visuals and more.
