I mean, this is a question you have to answer for yourself lol. I’m not really sure why you feel guilty.

Maybe you feel like because you didn’t put in the work to dig for that rare track you somehow don’t “deserve” it or something?

    You’ll get over it.

Forget any notions of “screwing over a DJ”. Think about the ARTIST who poured his/her heart into that music and now will gain a new fan and new sale because you shazamed that tune.

In the long run, the artists will keep the music alive way more than the DJs. Support them. Buy legally. I support artists by posting full tracklists. If I have to hide my playlist, then it says I don’t have much to separate me from the masses of DJs out there.

You shouldnt feel guilty at all. We DJ to SHARE the music we love. Should make the DJ happy to see people clamoring to figure out the tune if they like it. 🙂

Negate the guilty feeling by working harder to dig for your unknown tracks and also simply don’t shazam as often. You dont have to have EVERY tune after all. There’s no clearly defined line. It’s hard to resist doing after all. D-Jam is right with his post as well

Maybe high five ing the DJ instead shazam ing? Introduce yourself, not only you gettin a new DJ buddies, you also make them feel good if you asked them whats the track he/she was playin ? (beware of some of them might respond in the douche way)
