    Hello Sam :);
    Thank You for your Question;
    As I DJ Live with Ableton All The Time I have a Mass Of Knowledge really;
    But; for the meantime; (as I don’t have a Webcam myself); just to give you an idea of How Easy it can be to Mix Tracks into each other without using Any Effects or Sliders; Please take a few moments to watch the Video below;

    Hey Emma 🙂

    Thanks for responding, i’ll watch that video asap :).

    What i really wanted to know was how people like you who DJ with Ableton set up your sets. You can watch youtube tutorials all day (which i love to do!) but i want the views and ideas from people who are actually out there using it….not making tutorials. Teaching and doing can be very separate areas…..

    So…how is your ableton-set set up can I ask? 🙂

    I have 4 Decks for Tracks; with an EQ Eight on Each Deck;
    2 Decks for Loops; with a Ping Pong Delay and a Beat Repeat on Each Deck;
    2 Decks for Samples; with a Beat Divider; Chorus; and Bass Pre Tone & Colour on Each Deck;
    2 Decks for Effects; which include a Reverb; Simple Delay; and an Auto Filter on Each Deck;
    This is my DJ Template I Always Use; and my Loops and Samples are Cut from Tracks I have in my Collection;
    I Personally like to Run Tracks into each other for 2 Minutes as Standard; but this is just a Technique I have learned; and it makes it Much Harder for the listener to know when One Track Ends and Another Begins;
    I Use Automation on Every Deck (which is ‘Sometimes’ set up Beforehand on Samples and Loops ); but by ‘Midi-Mapping’ the Automation on my 4 Main Decks comes just from my ‘Twiddling Knobs’ 🙂

    Wow ok that sounds sick. Thanks for taking the time to write the above, really helpful.
    What music do you spin? I’m guessin its like deep maybe techy house?
    Interesting you use an EQ Eight and not the 3 or maybe a different plugin?
    Yeah when you say run 2 different tracks into each other for 2 minutes do you mean your loops? As in fundamentally the beats?

    I use it to do studio mixes, I’m a bit reluctant to use it live as I’m not sure my comp could handle it in a real world setting.

    Hello Sam 🙂
    You are Welcome;
    I Mix House; Deep House; Hard House; Techno; Ambient; Dubstep; whatever takes my Fancy at the time :);
    I find that using the EQ Eight gives me Much More Control over the Frequencies; as the the EQ 3 is quite Standard;
    I do like (and Often use) the Multiband Dynamics on Each Channel too; and of course will use the Spectrum Analyser too; (it was just that I was a bit Tired last night to remember Everything :))
    I do use Drum Loops often in ‘Breaks’ just to Fill Up the Sound – and Often these Drum Loops are Cut from the Same Track that is playing; but when I say that I Always (Whenever Possible) Run Two Different Tracks into each other for Two Whole Minutes; I mean the Track (say Track 6) into the Next Track (say Track 7); this is just something I Learned and Developed over the years as a Technique; I Never Mess with the EQ – in the sense of turning Off the Bass on the Incoming Track – I just find Two Tracks (Ultimately 30 Tracks over a 2 Hour Period) where they will Mix and Run Together with Perfection – this is where my Joy comes from; and though it sounds Crazy; when it Happens it Almost Feels Spiritual (Apologies if that is Offensive to Anybody);
