Stay true to who you are at the moment. You want to come back and make a good impression. Knowing your way around equipment doesn’t necessarily mean your are comfortable with it.

You have more tools at your disposal with the controller and you are more comfortable with that platform. I’d agree with Sirenksi on this one. Play with what you know well. This wiil give you time to focus on the crowd (reaction) and entertaining, not having to worry about the technical bits too much.

As far as being able to play on anything, agreed. But not necessarily BEFORE you’ve played your first major gig. If you have been at it regularly for a year, including trying nights with CDJs and you still have trouble with certain gear, then that’s a different story.

Stick to what you know best, hence this is your first major gig, you dont want to stumbled on some technical flaws even the smallest in CDJ, something like why the tracks not auto-cue ? or how do I link this USB thing ?

Yeah, or borrow Rizki’s helmet and nobody will know it was you anyway. If the night goes well, take off the helmet at the height of the evening. Otherwise, keep wearing it and blame Riz … issa simple!
