At your price range I would go for the M-Audio.
However I have no personal experience from the Kurzweil and Akai.
However the M-Audio are very good bang for the buck and I like them in this price range. My experience has been very satisfying with them and my brother still uses them.

Thanks a LOT for the quick answer!
The M-Audio looks really good indeed, I’ll check some online reviews for that one…

Cheers!

I own the M-Audio AV40’s myself. I’ve had them for quite a few years and have loved every minute of it. The sound quality is excellent across the spectrum and they’re well built. For the price you’d be hard pressed to find something better.

If this is purely for just DJing…take a look at the rokit line of studio monitors.

They are cheap and the lows are a little more than i would like in studio monitors but GREAT for DJing as you wont need to really add a sub if u dont want to.

oh nvm…those M-audios are really cheap

I’ll have a look at what Rokit proposes, but I didn’t see them in my price range on Bax-Shop.nl

The M-Audio model sounds better and better, thanks for the advices, guys! 🙂

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for, monitor speakers in this budget range. Saves me from making a new thread 😛
snooze92, did you order the M-audio model? Is it any good?

Hi Madman!

I created this topic for a friend’s birthday.. and we ended up having a smaller budget than expected.
He still got an amazing Sennheiser pair of headphones, so no worries for him 🙂

I am still mixing on old gaming Logitech speakers when I’m at home, so I can’t give you more feedback about the M-audio model… but I am 200% that they are the monitor speakers I will go for as soon as I will have 111e to spend on my DJ gear!

😉

Hi Guys, I have to pick one from these for DJing at Home. Please can you recommend?

Samson Audio Resolv A8

Behringer Truth B1031A 8in Active Studio Monitor with 8in Kevlar Woofer

GEMINI SR8 STUDIO MONITOR PACKAGE
Pair of 8

Most of those low-end monitors are fine for DJ:ing but for any serious or semi-serious mixing and mastering they are not exactly nice to have. Typical problems, big holes in the frequency range, distortion with higher volumes, murky sound et rest. But for plain DJ:ing they work fine.

Thank you Kent, I went for the Behringer Truth. Yes Im going to use them for just DJing at Home. Not planning to start producing anytime soon 🙂

Yep, basically any monitor that has decent sound is fine for home DJ practice.

For production work I usually recommend people trying to get some quality used gear from craiglist, Mackie, Event, Genelec et rest. Beats any brand new low-end easily.

PS: I adore my new Event 20/30s.
