ParticipantI’m not incredibly experienced when it comes to software, but I’ve tried Virtual DJ LE and Serato DJ Intro that came with my N4 and I don’t have a problem with either of those. After some research, I took the plunge and went for Traktor Pro 2 and like it so far, although it’s not as iTunes-integrated as the others. You can still access your iTunes library and all your tracks are still there, but you need to do some extra work organizing it in the Traktor software itself in order to have playlists and such. You can still access everything, it’s just not as user-friendly as the others I’ve tried.
Otherwise, Virtual DJ has a great sampler that you may like (I haven’t played around with Traktor’s yet, but I imagine it’s similar). Do you want 4-deck capability? If so, VDJ or TP2 may be the way to go. I’m having some trouble with hot-cueing on decks 3 and 4 in TP2 though (although a simple mapping adjustment may fix it).
Since you’re using vinyl, you may want to look into the Traktor SCRATCH as well, which I’m not familiar with.
Hopefully this helps at least a little, if you haven’t already got some by now

Thanks for your time and advice!
I had the opportunity to test Virtual DJ, Serato and Traktor Scratch Pro 2 software. For me Traktor is the most comfortable one. I like the sample functionality of the Scratch Pro 2 a lot. (e.g.: import loop from a normal deck directly into the sample deck)
I’ve found a youtube-clip which explains the iTunes library management in Traktor. (). Not being able to adjust iTunes playlists in Traktor is inconvenient but not a huge problem for me, in Traktor you can import the iTunes playlists in the Traktor library.
I found a second hand Traktor Scratch Pro which I will upgrade to Pro 2. The Audio 8 soundcard gives me the opportunite to control the 4 decks with timecode vinyl and cd’s.Thanks a lot for your reply.
Cheers

MemberFor your purposes I’d recommend serato scratch live, because it has all the features you’re looking for and not too many more. It’s totally solid, the timecode response is tight and the iTunes integration is top notch.
Traktor Scratch Pro 2 would also do the job more than satisfactorily. I’d say one of those 2 without a shadow of a doubt.

ParticipantIf you can live with trouble with iTunes intergration (at least for a while until NI has solved the problem)
Then Traktor Scratch 2 will be a good choice for you IMO.
VDJ is also good but T2 has more efx and better timecode function
You have two different Traktor scratch 2 versions to chose from
If you do not have a Traktor certified mixer you will need the soundcard from NI as well as the software…..
