Big no to the Hercules, the rest are all solid choices.

I kinda like the low profile jogs and gain knobs on the Beatmix. The mixtrack pro will prolly fetch the best price when you want to sell it again and the Pioneer is the trendy choice and has nice crossmix features.

All in all personal preference and you cannot go wrong with any of those.

I’ve got an SB2 which I love, I personally prefer the feel of the mixtracks jog wheels and it has a longer pitch control (the SB2 is really short and gets on my nerves sometimes). So I’d vote for the mixtrack Pro 3 with the SB2 being a close second.

    Hello,

Buying the first controller always seems to be difficult and it is.

I personally recommend the Pioneer DDJ-SB2/ -RB since it has got a very good build quality and promises a proper use, especially together with Rekordbox DJ.
Hercules is no good choice to be honest. My first controller was a Hercules Air and it was enough to just testing DJing out, but you quickly recognize that the effort, the engineers put into the developing of the controller and especially the software itself, is not that high.

But what I always say: The world of DJing does not have to start with Pioneer and does not have to end with Pioneer.

    Sincerely,
    Audastrian

    Thank you for your help!
Think i might go for the mixtrack 🙂

But i have another question, both the mixtrack and the ddj-sb comes with serato dj intro and the beatmix comes with virtual dj le and I dont really feel like spending another 100 bucks to get the full versions.. Are the light editions good enough to not to get bored after playing two times?
Are the controllers compatible with other dj softwares or are they bound to be used with serato/virtual dj? Is there maybe a place I can find such information easily?

    Thanks again!!!

    Hey again,

the light versions are enough to use the controller properly. Of course there is always something above, but I think for this kind of hardware, it fits.
Yes, they are compatible to other softwares, but maybe you have to create a mapping then. You can quickly find out by just visiting the softwares’ websites and looking for compatible devices.

    Sincerely,

Serato DJ Intro is quite capable actually, however the full version is tons above it.
Just wait for one of Serato’s sales. They have them regulary and most of the time it will be 50% off. That is a great value.

Serato is doing a sale right now. 50% off. Full version Serato DJ is $65 (usually $130), and the Serato DJ Suite, the full version plus all of the expansion packs (this is the one I went for) is $150 (usually $300).

Hey everyone I’m looking to buy my 1st controller but it’s been hard to choose I’m a beginner so I don’t want top of the line but I want something I can grow into before I start school later this year. So I’m thinking Numark NV2 or Pioneer SX2.I like my EDM and I like my rap so it has to be something that would let me be creative in both areas without going over $1,000 what you got for me?

The 2 you are looking at look good, but I would honestly if you rap also look at the new Roland controller as it has a build in sequencer for beat maps, that are often used in hip hop, also the Denon MC7000 you should take a look at.
