For Traktor get a Native Instruments controller like the S2 or S4 either Mk I or Mk II.

Are they of good quality as have read some bad reviews on the mk1 after a bit of use. Sound quality good?

Is it worth getting the mk2 over the mk1? I would use traktor dj but I’ve had problems with my audio6 connecting to my iPad Air

Well fact is, even if you map anything else to Traktor, it will still not be as snappy working as their own controllers as some HID functions are locked out if you do not use a NI controller.
Sound quality wise they are OK and yes I would get the Mk. II they have several advantages.

But then I do not really like Traktor, even though I used it for quite some time, but I did use it with an S4 and it worked OK.

Well, if you are willing to switch to Serato and build quality is an issue, there is the MC6000 mk2 to consider. It does support Traktor (and I have used that combination with a mk1 for a year and a half before switching to Cross), VDJ and Serato now. Sound quality was good on the mk1 (16-bit) and has improved on the mk2 (24-bit). It’s built like a tank, very reliable and comes in a 19″ form factor. A lot of the complaints about the (cramped) lay-out have been rectified.

Just my two cents (I am biased, being a Denon afficionado though 🙂 ).

Oh, I misunderstood you were willing to go Serato, but on reread I see you are just willing to get a Serato controller and do some mapping. MC6000 is support by Traktor, so no home-made mapping necessary.
