I know…I’ve seen this happen at many venues.

I even remember when I used to work for that entertainment company, I would get phone calls the day after I posted new photos sent by photographers. The mangers would be pointing out any and all the “browns” and ask me to remove them…claiming it puts a “bad image” on the venue. I’m so glad I don’t work for that crap anymore.

It’s amazing how much racism and segregation is around what many think is a very liberal city. Northside VS Southside VS Westside. Blacks, Latinos, and Whites all clinging to their areas and cliques.

While I mostly do EDM myself (I’m trying to branch out…), one of my favorite DJs is J Rocc. I got a chance to see him recently and he was using Serato and even playing files that were clearly ripped from his vinyl collection. He was changing songs far more rapidly than he could have been using records, some really swift hip hop/soul/funk mixing.

He played a lot instrumental hip hop which in many ways reminded me of EDM sets that don’t really focus on lyrics. Frankly, I just don’t get why DJs don’t like to play eclectic hip hop/soul/funk at bars.

When I began DJing it was because of a hip-hop DJ which I saw recently on youtube. Look him up -DJ ANOMOLY- I like him because he makes Hip-Hop mixes in the Numark Mixtrack Pro just to help begginers, He also has videos on his real setup which are a couple of technics and a mixer, he makes hip-hop mixes, but I think he is only a bedroom DJ.

gona revive this from the grave :p when i read this thread i was inspired to get back hip hop. I remember buying my first turntables, being primarily a hip hop kid, and then realizing that people aren’t going to dance to “protect your neck” or “shook ones” (at least where I reside). Fast forward a couple years and I’m breathing edm. After reading this I really wanted to make something that is a middle ground between the type of music I initially wanted to spin and the music I’m loving now :p heres the result of my blood, sweat and tears haha. big thanks to ice man for bringing this topic up

cool routine, but im being picky, the jay z acapella was a little behind the beat, you need to move it forward a fracton so it’s in phase… great tracks though

@the rest of the thread, no tribe called quest…. no hip hop
