i would suggest selling the spin and buying a serato box and use your decks and mixer as a dvs setup

I’ll second that…or get a better controller that you can plug your decks straight in to.

Michael & Steelo, Thanks for your replies and advice.

I don’t think I want to be using my decks again. If I did I think I”d go down the Serato Scratch Live route, ditch digital controllers altogether and stick with vinyl. Also space is an issue so I don’t want the SL’s permanently setup.

which are perceived to be the best Serato controllers? I wouldn’t want to spend more than £400 really.

then depending on how many decks you want to use i would consider the denon dn mc3000 which is £399 and is a 2 deck controller but option for 4 deck on shift layers and can handle 8 hot cues and 8 samples as well as full control over 2 effects slots and is tightly integrated to traktor but fully midi mappable.

2 decks will be enough. I’m kinda an old school DJ so i’ll just be beat matching and scratching. all this midi mapping etc scares me. I think i can just about handle some effects buttons and sample loops.

It looks like a nice controller but I’ve looked at software and I prefer Serato over Traktor to be honest.

then look towards the vestax vci380 which is designed for serato i personally prefer traktor

that’s one of the controllers i had my eye on. A bit more than i want to pay but it may be worth it.

    Thanks for all your advice.

The Vestax gear is built and designed well. Worth paying the coin for IMO.

Good advise from the guys. I was in nearly the same position. I sold most of my gear that piled up over the ages, I kept one Technics from the 80s as a token of time hehe and my latest CDJs for backup, but it does not get used anymore…

My two penneth worth, keep the 1210’s and vinyl, get an S4, the scratch upgrade and jobs a good ‘un. I was in a similar position to you, don’t regret it at all. Now can play the vinyl on the beloved 1210’s but also the digital stuff via DVS or the S4 itself. Works a treat.
