Not mash-up? I would think so. Anybody else?

Guess the definition of mashup is a bit ambiguous. It says something like “USUALLY by overlaying”. But usually means there CAN be EXCEPTIONS. Like what you are doing.

Well I am confused right now, I thought that mash-up was when two or more songs play at the time most of the time. But here its like first comes intro form a then comes drop from c then comes outro from b.

Yep, I understand what you are doing, but I am not to sure about the EXACT definition of mashup. Hopefully someone else knows, so we both can be educated, eh?

Seems like a mash up to me.

a mash-up is an amalgamation of sounds from other songs, usually overlaid, but not always. What you are doing is definitely a mash-up, albeit a very elementary iteration.

[part of song A][drop transition from song c] [part of song B] ~seems like this would just be a mix to me?

I can see that train of thought … although with a mix I am more inclined to say that effectively you would play more than half of either song and not mix into the outro of another song.

true. I read that a little quickly and just saw the song a/b/c and not portion of the track

eh, IMO for the most part, mashups are just recorded mixes. You have basic ones, a la Deskhop, White Panda and Super Mash Bros, intermediate (Kap Slap, 3lau, Troika, DJ Trademark), and advanced (Girl Talk, DJ Earworm). They all vary in the amount of songs sampled and the length and nature of the samples. People like GT and DJ Earworm take snippets (usually less than 2 seconds long) of other songs and rearrange them into their own production, whereas SMB will overlay acapellas on instrumentals and do no more.

I guess below that would be what the OP is trying to do, not overlaying anything, but just putting parts together.

Here, I foud this one. Here its called bootleg:
    https://soundcloud.com/nils-n/nicky-romero-zedd-vs
It was played later by Nicky Romero and he called it bootleg.
I am getting even more confused right now :/

Listen to what Nicky Romero says at 12:33 here
    http://www.mixcloud.com/protocolradio/nicky-romero-protocol-radio-044/
he says that it is a mashu-up buuut why did he say bootleg later then?

I would call it a mini mix… if the songs are not being played together and it’s just intro of song a; drop song c then outro song b I’d call it a mini mix or maybe a bootleg (a remix not sanctioned by the original producer or made without the original stems of the songs being tweaked/edited/mashuped etc
