ParticipantI love the Denons, but I only owned some cheap Sennhiesers before, I don’t even know which model they were! Best thing would be to see if you could demo a pair of the ones your interested in, if you can’t do that then look on line for reviews and make a decision from that. HTH.

MemberI’ve got a pair of Stanton DJ Pro 2000 (ridiculous name, I know), they were recommended to me by an ex-DJ at the local guitar center. They’re alright, could be a bit more comfy, and the bass is kinda mellow, but they’re alright for the price.

ParticipantMy first pair was a Behringer HPX 2000. I broke those, and also it didn’t sound good at all.
My second pair was a Sony MDR V700. Broke those too but the sound was alot better.
I’m currently using a pair of Technics RP DH 1200s. I’ve had the same pair for more than 4 years now, these cans are built like turntables, they never get old. Even the sound quality is just the same as day one!
Right now, I’m thinking of getting either the Sennheiser HD 25-IIs or the TMA-1s.July 23, 2011 at 11:31 am #1001174Bad Santa Claus

ParticipantLike D-Jam, I am still using my old Sony MDR-V6 headphones that I bought in 2001. They’ve been around the world and back and still haven’t failed. As for casual (commute) listening, I use a pair of UE super-fi pro5’s which I’ve had for 4 years that have two drivers–amazing headphones if you can get the fit right. I also own a pair of Shure Se115s that are a bit bass heavy but are really comfortable. I’ve also owned etymotics ER-6I’s and was really impressed with their isolation, tho I’d doubt they’d be work for a DJ situation given their lack of bass.

MemberI own a pair of AKG 141 STUDIO and a pair of Pioneer HDJ-1000
I had bought the AKGs for listening to my productions during late night hours and I was very very pleased with their general sound but never had any other “studio-targeted” headphones to compare them with.
When i started DJing, I tried to use them but, as mentioned, they were not designed to isolate external noise. That’s when I bought the Pioneers and Im satisfied with them but again, Im not particularly demanding and have never used any other “DJ-targeted” headphones to compare them with. (well I used to have a pair of Technics which I cant even recall the model right now, but that was a loooong time ago, so I really can’t tell).
I can tell this though, the AKGs have far more “detailed” sound and their stereo-image is wider, things that I instantly recognised only after I acquired the Pioneers and compared. Still though, for DJing the Pioneers are way more suitable.

The isolation is fantastic. Despite the fact that they sit on the ears and don’t completely cover them.
As for sound quality, they sound a bit warmer than my HP-1000s. Plus I like the fact that both the ear foam and the the headphone cable are replaceable.

MemberI’ve just acquired a pair of Reloop RHP 5s. They’re the babies of the range, and with garish colours (white and ‘mint green’) and smartphone compatibility they are aimed at the fashion-conscious. However the sound quality and apparent robust construction (time will tell) make them a good spare pair also useful for travelling.
(As previously stated main pair is a pair of Sony MDR-V500s, which are great!)

MemberI use a pair of Ultrasone DJ1 Pros. I love em and the sound is top notch! Only gripe I have is with the ear padding, they tend to come off sometimes if I’m adjusting the phones on my head since they kinda screw into the cups. But I really love em and the detachable cord makes em ultra portable.
