ParticipantI develop software for a Wall Street firm. I love it, but would rather be playing to a crowd every night instead. 🙂

I never played online poker seriously, because at first it was just a hobby (like DJing) and I was always a much better live NLH/PLO player. Foxwoods was also 40 minutes from my college so it was convenient enough to take advantage of alot of the tourists that came in daily. I was grinding 60-70 hrs/week and had limited expenses since everything most of everything was comped. After I graduated I moved further north and now its hard to find a consistent game so Ive been focusing more on my DJ skills. And I gotta say, IMO DJing is much more enjoyable, and not nearly as stressful as grinding it out, day by day at the tables, in the same seat watching the sun go up and down. Now if Im lucky I get to watch the sun come up when Im in the booth.
yeah man poker is literally such a grind. after 4 years of playing online it lost that fun feeling. I stopped caring about the money and wanted nothing more than to get out of my office and into the real world. and even though im working a 9-5 bulls**t job currently, im still much happier than i typically was playing poker. thinking about it I really only enjoyed my time playing poker after i got a big score from playing mtts (multi table tournaments for those not familiar). And that wasnt very often lol.
I cant wait till I can start dj’ing semi professionally and start making money back on this hobby I really enjoy. 😀

MemberI’m a journalist. I report on education news for a daily here in Killeen Texas. Love my job. Hours are long some days, but I love writing for a living and it never gets boring.

I cant imagine doing it for even that long. I got sick of it after 6 months, and after a while, win, lose, or draw, it became depressing. I think it would of been a better experience if I was on the ride with someone else. You would think making 10k over a summer would make anyone happy, but in a way, it wasnt worth abandoning friends, and missing most of my senior year at college. Either way, I can still play cards with friends and have a good time, but with DJing, I feel that I would have fun doing it both professionally, and part time on weekends

ParticipantI moved to the islands 20 years ago as a scuba instructor. Spent enough time on boats to get my Captain’s License and did dive and sail charters. Moved on to being a yacht broker, then got into real estate sales and property management, which is what I do currently. Started DJing about three years ago to bring in some fun and creativity back to my life and looking to do more.

ParticipantHotel Manager…early morning meetings aren’t always too enjoyable after those late nights at the club. I’ve had a dig at lots of different jobs but haven’t quite settled on anything I really like yet. I’ve done retail, telecommunications, real estate, was a chef for a while, social media, sound & lighting, club and events promoter, worked the door at several clubs. I’ve always managed to play out fairly regularly for most jobs. I’m looking forward to taking some time off, heading back home and just locking myself in the studio for a while.

MemberUp until the end of last year I was an Events Manager for a big audio/video hardware & software company. Now I’m still figuring out what to do.. tempted to change career entirely because whilst working for that company my creativity dropped to almost zero (only so long you can stare at a DAW screen), since leaving I’ve done a DJ mix and got a regular gig, as well as working on a couple of remixes and 3 of my own productions!
