Depends on the DJs, of course… the biggest multi-DJ team I can think of is C2C, but they are doing turntablism performances so it’s more like they’re playing instruments together. Their videos are well worth seeing.

4 hands = more EQ or effects in the mix. Sometimes one guy does the mixing and the other selects the tunes. 3 sounds like a bit much, maybe they’re taking turns and going B2B?

Ahhh I see. Makes sense. For turntablism ala Qbert it makes sense (or even DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist) but for non-turntablism (Swedish House Mafia, Knife Party) I always wondered. (Not saying I like SHM but as an example)

So therefore it would make sense that if there are more than one DJ, the level of the performance better be good! Makes me want to check out any multiple DJ show now just to see what they do.

Thanks for the C2C tip! I’ll check them out

A multi-DJ turntablism crew are akin to a band with different people making different noises. A multi-DJ effort like Swedish House Mafia are there to pack people into the event and do Jesus poses.

As for C2C, this video is probably my favourite especially 4:15 onwards 🙂

Well actually what we loved to do with my crew was:
Everyone would do 30min on their own (we shuffle the order around), then we would do all 3 on stage and simply have fun. You put on a song and the next one has to find the following song and mix it in, then the third has to find the next song and mix that in and so on… totally creative mode freestyling it.
But to pull that off you have to know each other and have to know how to throw it in for the crowd and not to please yourself or to show off.
