D-Jam is probably more knowledgeable in these things, but personally I’d fade-to-black the background lowest half of your card in order to make the text stand out even more (and then obviously raise the background so that the turntable is visible in the upper half). Mind you, I ‘m in the same school of thought with D-Jam here as in personally I believe business cards should look “business”, be simple, elegant and straight to the point – keep the wild colors for “flyers” 😉I agree…the outlining helped…but I’d probably do a little more to make it stand out.

MemberHere are my cards & my stickers. I pretty much give out stickers only nowadays, but always have a few cards with ALL my info as well. Stickers are dope because if the person likes your work, they’ll put one somewhere that others may notice. If someone LOVES your work, they’ll take 10 and put them MANY places people will notice! Works especially well if you have a cool, unique, and recognizable design (hopefully I do!)

ParticipantI like the idea. You’re using yours as marketing materials and not just networking materials.
You ever thought of putting a QR code on the stickers?

Most definitely. I printed thousands of the last batch before I learned about the QR codes (I literally was being told about them by a homie as I went to pick up the new stickers!). Not sure how I’ll incorporate them onto the sticker but it’s easy to do on the cards.

MemberAre QR codes just for blackberrys?

MemberNope. QR codes can be read by any device with the appropriate software 🙂

ParticipantThis is quite cool. I don’t think you need the url twice unless you are marketing yourself exclusively to goldfish. Maybe drop the larger Dj MAX D logo on the top one (it doesn’t gel super well with the rest of the design) and then use same url font but change it to your name. I’d make the text brighter to get better contrast with the background. Other than that – its a but of a winner!

ParticipantI do not have one but I always has paper and a pen and make one by hand if asked for….

Advice noted 🙂
Thanks a bunch 🙂
I’ll probably be making a “real” batch of my cards soon (I did a test package just to see how they look in reality and how people react) and I’ll post the improved design here.January 8, 2012 at 1:39 am #12506dj flyer
MemberJust a tip, remember they are for promoting your career, not to impress dj-friends.
Just the nessesary information so people can read it without a magnifier.
And don´t print them at home, it says “I´m not a pro and I don´t make money
playing music”.January 8, 2012 at 3:43 am #12508Todd Oddity
ParticipantMax D, a couple of points. Don’t drop the second URL. Your website is your most important marketing tool these days and therefore should be as prominent as possible. However, make it bigger on the back side so it really stands out, and then work it into the other information on your card front instead of just having in over your name like that.
Easiest way to do that is use a proper email address (ie. max@djmaxd.com) – it sounds far more professional than a Gmail account, and if you already have the website, setting up an email forwarder shouldn’t be a big deal.
Just my $.02.

Yep, planning to make it bigger and bolder, you will see in business card version 1.1 🙂
As for the e-mail, I just have the domain bought and the site is on a free hosting service so I can’t get the @djmaxd.com email but I plan to make a “full” site soon so the e-mail thing is planned too 🙂
Thanks for the suggestions 🙂June 19, 2012 at 8:28 am #1006427JoseButler
