    1) – One thing that can keep you motivated is to have other friends that are DJs. A few of us try to get together once a week and take turns practicing while the rest of us just hang out.

    2) – I also live in a smallish (1000 sq ft) 1 bedroom appartment, and the dj booth is right in the middle of the living room/kitchen so it’s just always there setup calling my name out to practice. When my g/f watches her chick shows, I throw on my headphones and practice.

    3) – Downloading new tracks is always a huge motivator for me.

    4) – Having an upcoming gig, this is probably the best motivator to practice!

listening to mixes from djs i love… you gotta do stuff to remind yourself of why ure in this game and what u want to aspire to. main mix at mo is richie hawtin in london in feb. http://soundcloud.com/r_co/richie-hawtin-live-new

also listen to any sasha mix…. taking sounds from one record throu two tunes… the mans mixing is simply breath taking…. it just makes me work harder at getting them records to work….. recording ever mix so you are alway in preformance mode…under pressure

Set projects for yourself so your not aimlessly doing a mix…. contantly doing demos and giving mixs for gifts for friends bdays etc… i only mix tracks that i love and move my very soul… so i can listen to my own mixs on my way to work gym etc…

alot of my friends are amazing djs but ask them for a mix… u never get it… there is something about that record button… so record everything

For me, nothing beats inviting a friend (or a few friends) over, cranking up the volume and getting stuck in to a case of beer.

Also watching a few videos from the DMC championships or some massive festival always gets me pumped.

For me I like to listen to previous mixes that I’ve done in the past. The ones that you did “that made you step back and pat yourself on the back”…..gets me excited….reminds me of what I can do and sets the bar higher…after all your only as good as your last mix!

I have a night i dedicate each week for practising. Everyone in my household knows this timetable.
Lately, i have started a radio show and have chosen this same slot. That way, i play n practise at the same time.
    Perfect combination….

i guess, as usual, I’m the odd one here who says I get motivated by the equipment. I look at it and say, “ok, what can I make it do that it ain’t supposed to be able to do”
