Oh boy, the fear of people “grabbing all the jobs”. 😀

I don’t have that fear, because I know what is involved in being a good (in my case mobile) DJ. Not something any wannabe can do by watching a film. Or practice in their bedroom for 6 months for that matter.

They MAY be able to grab some of the “won’t pay you diddly to begin with”-gigs. But they won’t even be considered for the kind of gigs I am willing to play. And while in that sea of wannabe DJs there are a few that have the potential to become potential competitors/colleagues in the future, I don’t waste my time worrying about that now.

The greater the number of people that try, the bigger the chance that real talent will discover the art and that in and of itself is good for DJ-ing, imho. It’s like those The Voice Of shows. They have brought us many new singers, some of which we might never have heard of. And some of which we never hear of anymore!

    Dankjewel DJ Vintage!
I don’t DJ for free and these movie fans will go for the free gigs just to look cool and be able to say they are a DJ and maybe try it just once. The ones who have more success will be those that bring a lot of people – that’s what most venues care about anyway these days… So many times, venue managers/owners don’t even listen to DJ mixes before hiring them…

I don’t think this movie will make even a small dent in the number of people who want to be DJs. If it had come out five years ago, maybe. But EVERYONE is a DJ now. There’s nobody left to convert.
