I can hear a little difference, but generally the systems I play on aren’t good enough to tell a big difference, so Mp3 (not 128) seems fine to me

Lossless if you wait to be futureproofed and if your playing on good systems.

99.9% of people cannot hear the difference between a wav file and a 320kps mp3. That being said, since the cost of hard drives is going down and the size keeps going up, there is less and less reason not to just use .wav or flac.

    The general consensus is that:
    WAV is good
    MP3 with 320kb is good
    AAC with 256kb is good
I play with all of the above and never had a problem.

Same with digital photography. If Ken Rockwell does JPEG (I use his settings on my Nikon) to make his art, then why the hell would I need RAW.

If you have the HD space and affordability, uncompressed audio is definitely the best way forward, however it is very difficult to audibly tell the difference between a 320kbps MP3 for example, particularly in a noisy club.
