ParticipantDepends on your version of LE but there’s a lot that those versions don’t have compared to the full software.

MemberPro comes with more effects, the ability to access grooveshark (you need a grooveshark pass after a month), more functions, and vjay ability. Now… I started with a mixtrack pro and bought full pro of VDJ, and now I’m on an S4 in traktor pro. having used both, I say this: if you are going to be strictly a mobile dj, vdj is just fine, and because of the vjaying, it allows some interesting possibilities. However, if you are doing any kind of club setup I would strongly suggest traktor. traktor crashes less often, works better with other midi devices, has more capability, and is in a way, industry standard (I cant speak for Serato or rekordbox’s functioning) but I have NEVER seen anyone use VDJ in a club. also upgrading VDJ is like 150 USD… Traktor is like 80…

KeymasterEffects, VJing, ability to use VSTs, more sample possibilities, recording, additional tools (especially for windows users, like registry optimizer), access to their support, faster answers in the support forums, lifetime free upgrades and many more.
There is absolutely NO reason to use Traktor over VDJ and Traktor is NO industry standard. Traktor does not crash less than any other software (and actually all of the major 3 are VERY stable and crash very rarely, actually accept Traktor 2.5 which had his problems until 2.6 came). Traktor is IN NO WAY more capable (capable of what?). VDJ actually has more features than Traktor, Traktor is just simpler to setup with controllerist tools and both work equally well with any MIDI equipment and both are equally good at custom mapping anything to them.
Many DJs use VDJ in clubs (I myself did a festival with 5k people with VDJ…). The pricing is also relative as Traktor will charge you again for new major versions (so upgrading from 1.x to 2.x costed you again), while VDJ has free upgrades for life.
Plus the upcomming VDJ 8 has some killer features. Not that Traktor is bad software, but it is in no way the only software to use. Serato and VDJ are both viable and very capable options. Traktor is just the most hyped software (in the US, which is funny as the software is from germany and in germany you actually see more VDJ in clubs…).
So please make up your own mind when choosing a software and do not listen to people saying something out of limited knowledge about other products. (And yes I can say this as I have successfully used all 3 major softwares…)

MemberTraktor does not crash less than any other software
I’m just saying in my experience. I’ve had VDJ crash on me many times, on both my old windows laptop, and my new Macbook Pro, whereas Traktor has crashed on me maybe once
Traktor is IN NO WAY more capable (capable of what?). VDJ actually has more features than Traktor, Traktor is just simpler to setup with controllerist tools and both work equally well with any MIDI equipment and both are equally good at custom mapping anything to them.
I would say capable of handling multiple midi devices at once, loop recording, running remix decks, and handling multiple multiple effects, cues, and filters at a time (again, my personal experience on a Mixtrack in VDJ, so if I’m wrong about something apologies).
I’m not saying VDJ isn’t a viable option, I’m just saying it hasn’t worked as well for me as Traktor has, which also has a lot to do with my setup change from Mixtrack on VDJ to an S4/F1/Maschine on Traktor. There are definitely advantages to both, for instance VDJ comes with the option of sorting by numeric key, doing the same sort of job as Mixed in key, but built in. Really, Dj Jick, you should probably download the free versions of both, and pick which one you like better.

ParticipantI’ve never had VDJ crash and I’ve never had Traktor crash. They’re both good software. VDJ has more features and Traktor has better built in effects but try both and decide for yourself.

KeymasterThere are some facts:
– VDJ has more functions than Traktor (except remix decks)
– VDJ can have more decks, more samplers and more midi-controllers connected to it and still work
– VDJ is also used by professional DJs (same as Traktor and Serato – and even Decadance, MixVibes and djay)Download the trials and use what best suits your workflow and what you feel comfortable with.
The software (as well as the controller) are only tools. Creating moments of magic is what the DJ can do, if he has a genuine passion for music, can read the crowd and has the experience. If he does it, nobody will ask what tools he uses and judge him by the tools.July 21, 2015 at 8:34 pm #2227601DJ NShyap
ParticipantWell said. I am so hopefull now to use VDJ LE till I can afford to buy full version….I would have been in a shock if all my cue points would have had to be redone in Tracktor or Serato because crash issues.
