ModeratorHey, I can only speak for the Denon MC6000 and it put a smile on my face to hear you refer to it as old and expressing fear of support anytime soon. I don’t see Denon dropping support on the MC6000 anytime soon. Besides, the only kind of support you really need to worry about would be mappings and both the software forums and the denon DJ forum are more than active on that front.
I know for a fact that the MC6000 comes with software, Traktor LE or Virtual DJ LE (depending on which continent you are on), so it’s not correct that it is shipped without any.
The unit is rock solid, features four channel standalone matrix mixer, TWO microphone channels, each with full three band tone control (might not be important to you, I don’t know your DJ=ing style) and ducking. Powered, so not dependent on USB power.
I have had mine for close to two years I think and it has been a totally reliable and sturdy workhorse that has everything I need.
Since most controllers in a certain price range these days have pretty much the same feature set and I don’t think really bad controllers exist anymore, it is becoming more and more of a personal choice.
Good luck picking one!

ParticipantAgree with Chuck and the MC 6000, used to play with it and Traktor when I was doing club only (electronic music)
Last years started doing mobile again and need it the elastic beatgriding of Serato (I play a lot of latin music) I choose the TMX4 because Serato Dj was going to be available for it.
Now that is available for the VCI 400 you can’t go wrong with any of this controller, all depend in your software preference.

But I can’t say wich software should I take, never try Traktor or Serato.. Is there one better for a particular kind of music than other?
How You feel about ergonomy compared Reloop Terminal Mix 4 to Denon MC6000? I know its personall but want to know Your opinion.April 15, 2013 at 6:34 am #39179Terry_42
KeymasterVCI-400:
Rock solid construction. You can as of now get the VCI-400 in a package with the following software (depending on which edition you chose): Serato DJ, Deckadance, Traktor, VDJ
However to release its full potential I recommend some custom mapping if you go Traktor.
The controller is expensive, but it is very good.Terminal Mix:
Well I am biased on it, as it is my controller of choice. Because of 2 things: Serato DJ and the nicest jogwheels that I know of. Do not get me wrong I am not a scratch DJ, but I interact and do a lot manually and having really good jogwheels is important for me. Also everything else I need (effects, cues, samples) work very well. The TM4 is not very innovative, but as far as the things it does it is rock solid and road worthy.MC-6000:
Denon Quality, you can take that as a statement. Prolly build to survive a small tactical nuke and everything it does, it does really well. Yes some features of it are a bit dated, but it continues to work really well. The only thing why it is not the controller for me is because everything is a little too cramped for me. As I come from a world of turntables and large A&H mixers even the TM4 feels tiny to that setup and the Denon was just too cluttered for me. However I guess if you are mobile this can even be an advantage, so personal choice only here.As for Traktor and Serato:
Both get the job done nicely.
I chose Serato because it is very easy to use and the response to inputs that need high resolution performance (jogs, pitch) is easier to setup latency free. So plug and play.
Traktor is definately more of a controllerist approach and you do need to know at least a little about mapping etc. to unlock its full potential and it needs some tuning in my experience. However then it does offer more in terms of stacked effects and such things. For some features (Remix Decks) you need a Native Instruments controller to really use them and you will never get your jogwheels as tight as with the S2/S4.April 17, 2013 at 1:06 pm #39265arty
MemberThanks Terry, thats helpfull reply!
in this moment I considering only Reloop and/or Vestax.I saw Your review of Sertao Dj and Reloop TM4. Now I wonder how vestax working with full Serato Dj.. Is there also some lacks of unmapped butons and other things..? Anyone are using VCI400 with Serato DJ?

KeymasterWell the usual. There are simply some functions in Serato that do not yet work.

MemberSerato guys should start working!!! 😉
ok, now I’ve got an offer to buy slighty used, almost like new, VCI400 for about 440 euros (still with guarantee till november). New one in my country costs for about 660.
So what do you recommend? Buy used, but in very nice condition VCI400 or new Reloop TM4 for 540 Euro but with Serato DJ and with case?April 19, 2013 at 8:56 am #39348Terry_42
KeymasterHmm very personal choice. Depends if you like the “more” of buttons the VCI offers and it still has excellent jogwheels too.
I went mainly for the TM4 because the VCI was not available at the time, so offered that choice now I would have a tough time deciding and it prolly would come down to instinct choice.
I do not think you could go wrong either way, but factor in the price for the Serato Upgrade (which is currently on sale for 99 bucks) for the VCI.April 21, 2013 at 9:54 pm #39437arty
MemberI put my fingers on Vestax 😉
Thanks everyone for helping me with that! -
