I’d personally spend a bit more and get an entry level (but solid) controller. Spotify Premium only comes in handy for music discovery, but you guys do Vintage parties, I am guessing you know all the music from “your days”.

Don’t buy PA if you don’t have to, renting is easier and better. If you do have to buy PA, be aware that “you get what you pay for”. There are no shortcuts to that and there are no low-budget speakers that will sound good enough to do a paid gig with imho. Again, easier to rent professional gear than to buy professional gear.

I would start with the money-back-guarantee How To Digital DJ Fast course. It will get you from total newbie to someone that knows the basics. It also helps you to know what to practice and how to practice it properly.

Clearly you’ll need headphones as well. Read some of the reviews. There is one VERY cheap pair of headphones that are great for DJ-ing, the Sennheiser HD-201. Not the best build quality, but sound wise they are the best you can get for under 30 bucks.

No problem on the English, you are doing well!

Thank you both guys for your reply,
My personal intention is to buy a controller instead of a virtual app, hopefully with some lite o le software bundled (maybe virtual dj that seems to be easier than traktor or serato) and stsrt to play around in my home studio.

I’d look on the blog at the “entry level” lists that have been made.

I think it’s utterly cool you want in at 50. I’m going to be 43 this month and I can only fathom making mixes into my old age. Have loads of fun with it.

i’m 50 by age… but in my mind and my soul i’m stil a teen age 😉

    my choices will probably do:
hercules Dj control istinct S or, if i still find some, an Hercules mk4 (that i think is little more advanced but it’s at the end of its life cycle) with DJUCED software bundled (a full version)
Just to start to play around.

If I can be so bold as to repeat myself and advise to get a slightly better controller.

    Current favorites are:
    * Pioneer DDJ-RB2 (or RB if you want RekordBox DJ with it)
    * Numark Mixtrack Pro (all of them) or the new Mixtrack Platinum
    * Denon MC2000 (the best build in the industry)
    * Reloop Beatmix 2 (both mk1 and mk2)

All these controllers get you from “just playing around” through “serious practicing” to “your first live gigs” without any trouble.

Alternative software for DJuced, you might want to look at Mixvibes. Full software will cost you just short of 40 euro and you can get a time-limited trial version. The RB obviously comes with the RekordBox DJ software, so no extra expense there. Some of the others may have a LE (lite) version of Serato for example. Virtual DJ is another software to check out.

I’d get the MTP3 for that small difference, just me though 🙂

Best price-performance imho still the KRK 5s (but expect to buy a sub-woofer later as they are slightly short on bass) or 6s.
Really budget I’d suggest something like the M-Audio AV-42. I would stay away from 3″ speaker monitors as that is really no good and you will become agitated really quickly by the (lack of) quality and loudness of the sound.

More and more DJ companies now making monitor speakers. Personally I would also check good brand 10″ used active PA-speakers. They won’t have the same sound qualities as the monitors, but are nice and loud and provide plenty of bass for such a small cabinet. And they will sound more like a real gig will sound like. And if you get two stands for them as well, you can use them for small (house) parties too.

Word of caution on used speakers, ALWAYS test them properly to make sure nothing is wrong with them.
