I´ve installed the whole VCI-400 on another system, without letting windows install drivers from windows update and without a connection to the internet, because I thought its a driver issue. When you look into the traktor preferences there is the VCI audio device called “VCI-400 (ASIO)”, so definitly no Win-driver. But when I look into the hardware-manager from windows, the only audio card is the “USB Multi-Interface Driver” with a driver from microsoft (the driver-details sat so).

But even in this case, on a whole new system (windows 7 64bit, Intel Core i3-330M CPU, 4GB DDR3 Ram), I´ve even 42,6ms of latency. I tested this with playing deck a and cuejuggling on deck b at the same time.

So… Now I´ve got a feedback from vestax. They are about to make a driver update in the next two weeks. Within this driver update is NO peformance-improvement, it just sets the priority for the CPU. This also can be done manually and has no big effect on the latency. I could reduce mine to around 40ms. This is almost unplayable for a controllerist that uses cuepoints and effects.
This driver problems won´t be solved in the next two or three months… Its in the hand of the Vestax guys. I´m a little bit angry about the fact that they are selling this gear without a usefull windows compatibility.

    I there Folk….

Goomo i serched a bit (maybe not enough) and i became aware that it is possible to install OS X Lion on a PC… Or Leopard…

You Could try it with an “unnoficial” version of a Mac OS… just to see if it helps…

Well just trying to help, bringing another possibility to the table. And i know that you shouldn be doing that.. vestax guys should have those problem fixed for us before they even start to Think about selling the product..

Yeah you`re right with bringing new ideas. I`ve also searched a bit… There are ways to make my windows pc a mc one. But I won`t set up my whole system new just to make the VCI work. I was very nervous, when I was ordering it. All reviews were positive and the VCI was hyped as the new controllerism allaroundsolution, and so on. So know after spending the whole weekend to fix this driver issue with no results I´m very disapointed. I´ve paid 800 bugs to have a working controller out-of-the-box. And now this driver problem… the loose power supply… This gear can´t be used on live gigs, thats horrible. Even if they solve the driver issue there`s also the power supply… This isen´t a working gear and its not worth the half of what it costs… Sorry I know this is hard, but its really true. 800€ for a controller which isen´t working on windows systems the next two month… and which isen´t working at all if you see this loose power supply. If you are on stage and this thing turn off right in your set…. your really f***** up.

    So… News from my side:
I´ve sent my VCI back and got the money back. I ordered the new numark N4, which arrived yesterday (1 out of 4 prototypes from elevator.de, cause this one will come out on jan 2012). I´m know done with the basic 4Deck-Traktor-mapping (cause this controller comes with virtualdj and serato dj intro). This gear is about 400€ (half of VCI-400). Its a full 4deck-midi-controller and a stand-alone-2channel-mixer + it will work with timecode. It works with asio4all. Every button, knob, fader and even every led (not like vestax) is completely mappable. The built in soundcard even works as stand-alone-soundcard (not like vestax one), so I even can watch movies with it (if i wanted).

And… the reason, why I´ve sent my VCI-400 back (it only works with latencys > 80ms)… this gear works with 9.6ms of latencys (4decks running, 6 effects turned on, 4deck simultanious cue-jugglin). When I use the N4 under realistic conditions (4deck mixing, 3 up to 6 effects running and a little cue-jugglin) latency won´t even matter.

The new N4 is mofu GREAT! I´ve bought a Icon Istage specially for cue-jugglin with it and I just spent 500€ (400€ the N4+100€ the Istage).
The only thing about the N4 is, that its build out of plastic and there aren´t that much buttons, but like I´ve sad, you could buy a second controller with it.

I´m so disappointed about Vestax sellin me a 800bugs-Beta-versioned-gear with driver problems and a loose power supply… and THX to Numark for this great piece of gear.
I recommend to everybody, who´s disappointed with repairing the VCI-400, the Numark N4. Vestax… never again!
