This is one of the reasons we like using iTunes for collection management. You can use the collection in Serato AND you can use RekordBox to copy playlists from iTunes to USB-stick.

Not sure if there are currently any direct options from Serato to RekordBox, I think not. But I might be wrong.

    Anybody else on this one?

Thanks Vintage, yes something I’ve been pondering for awhile now, using iTunes. I just want to know if I take my collection on my hard drive I have now and import it to Rekordbox, I’m not going to have any problems with it back inside Serato. Will Rekordbox be actually modifying my files or is it all done in the Rekordbox library file with a link to the music. Until I get sorted out organizing through iTunes, I’m hoping I’m okay to just tell Rekordbox hey look at this music here (my external drive) and I’d like that one and this one etc. I’ve been using Serato since 2007 so it’s a lot to get everything sorted out in iTunes. The other thing is, my iTunes library is on my home Desktop and I’m transferring as I buy into my external Serato drive after tagging so that’s another reason I’m not using iTunes still for management, haven’t actually figured out the proper way to have it sync up properly with my desktop xml and the laptop iTunes xml file.

You could do a small test by creating a secondary folder on your hard drive, dumping a few tunes in there, and then point RB to the “test” folder on your hard drive.

I used to use the same library/folder with Serato and Traktor and never had any issues, but it would be wise to give it a small test with RB.

    Thanks Bill, good idea.
    I’ll give it a try.
