Another good argument to NOT use Windows 8 (for anything but particularly for DJ-ing).
Seriously though. If the controller is recognized, then I’d agree with the Denon folks, that if a midi device is found by the software and it then doesn’t work, the fault would most likely be in the software and/or mapping area.
I’d suggest just reinstalling Windows 7 on your new laptop. You’ll have all the new hardware advantages and none of the Windows 8 disadvantages and you know that combination (win 7 – MC3000 – PCDJ 3.3) works.
Alternatively, you can download a trial version of (for example) Mixvibes Cross. It’s valid for I think 14 days. It natively supports the MC3000, so if the controller works correctly with it, you can definitely scratch the controller as the source of your problem. Since the MC3000 worked fine with your previous setup I think it is safe to say that it’s highly unlikely that it’s a hardware issue in the MC3000.
